Natalia Poklonskaya, she was the head prosecutor of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea prior to it seceding from Ukraine. She became an MP in 2016 and is rumoured to be a potential 2018 presidential candidate.

She kinda became a meme after Crimea left Ukraine when it became big news and people on 4chan noticed the head of their prosecutors office looked like an anime girl lol.

Is that really safe? I heard about such tours too and want to have one in future too but I'm scared of radiation, I read so many aqful things about that place...

Yes, it is really safe. I believe the radiation levels are now only dangerous around the former reactor itself so you cannot visit that, but the surroundings villages and towns are safe.

She was actually made head prosecutor after it was invaded/became part of Russia, she did work as a Ukrainian prosecutor prior to that though. She's currently a Russian MP.

Nah she was made head prosecutor before that. She was a senior Ukrainian prosecutor but after the coup in Kiev she (like most Crimean politicians/civil servants) decided her loyalty lay with Crimea not the new anti-Crimean government of Ukraine and so the Crimean government made her head prosecutor there (creating the post). That was prior to the referendum and the decisions to secede from Ukraine an join the Russian Federation.

She's currently a Russian MP.
Indeed, hence why I said that ;)

My dream is to visit Pripyat. The radiation doesn't scare me; I'm more concerned about surviving the filth, degradation, and general backwardness of Russia's medieval society.

not prior to the invasion she wasn't, you said that she was "prior to it seceding from Ukraine" - you mean after I think i.e. when the little green men who totally weren't from Russia made an appearance (I wasn't focusing on the referendum - Crimea was lost when it was invaded)

Just back from 3 days in Kiev and 4 days in The Zone. Was my 4th visit and probably my favourite so far. Missing it already and likely to be back next October. Group I go with visit March and October every year.

Radiation levels are mostly safe. There are areas that are higher than normal but nothing that is likely to hurt you long term. There are certain things (the claw, fireman clothing) that is still hot and shouldn't really be touched.

Kiev is a great place. Lots to do and see. Subway is an experience being the deepest in the world - the escalators are beasts!

Everything is dirt cheap, people are generally quite friendly if a little abrupt but that is their way and not meant to be taken personally. Ukraine society might not be the same as western europe but is not quite the oppressed hell hole our governments would have you believe. They are actually quite a civilised bunch of people who have unfortunately been shafted by whichever country as occupied them over the years.

Regarding the Zone visit, we had 3 long days - taking the 7.40am train with the work force from Slavutych to the reactors and then taking a bus to visit certain areas, eating in the canteen and then back home on the 8.40pm train. The last day we finish early as we have traditional Ukrainian meal in the evening. This tour was easily the most intense as visited many places - Duga, Reactor 5, Jupiter Factory, Summer Camp, Yannov Station. Plus hours and hours in and around Pripyat. Got the fly the Mavic pretty much where I wanted except Reactor 5 as it's actually privately owned. Flew through the spindles on the ferris wheel which was an achievement unlocked moment. Lots of footage to get through Climbed nearly to the top of Duga - didn't like the last ladder so chickened out.

It's a fantastic experience and would recommend it to anyone.

Ukrainian women are indeed gorgeous.

People can't expect and can't demand from Russia to change. Russia is gigantic empire and can sustain on its own without anyone else. It's like a smaller world in the world.
The funny part is their "filth and degradation" in the society can be looked as a parody of the Western system (capitalism) which screams all the time - money, money, money, and sad business with a lot of roles and masks on top of people's faces.

Russia has the best religion in the world and people will always be up to their nationpsychology. The religion about Love, Goodness, Family values, Friendship, etc.

Which religion do you speak of?

Yeah, it's perfectly safe if you follow the instructions. There is risk, but it is managed carefully.

I stayed away from fish in Kiev though ;)
