have you ever wondered if you are Truman?

Cmon guys, stop filling this guys head with all this matrix/truman nonsense.

We all know full damn well about 30% of earths population are human cattle for our vampire overlords who've managed to convince us they're just like us.

They're staring at you because you look like lunch to them, you dont happen to get migranes occasionally? Because that's a side effect of the feeding process. Of course it's all done with needles and blood bags these days to prevent making a mess/making you aware of whats going on.

No, I am not self centred enough I don't think.

Question, when out driving do you hit EVERY traffic light at red? and when pulling out onto an empty junction do cars appear from nowhere?

I'm not self centred (well ok maybe a little), just observing lots of strange things which perhaps happens to everyone. I'll find out based on all your answers in this thread.

If I am then I hope Rachel Riley is presenting the evening summary and roundup show of the day's events. I also hope there's a Russian hacking group out there trying to get inside the show. And if there is, they'll be reading this post. Hopefully it will give them inspiration to break me free.

ok how's this for weird, a trick I learnt ages ago which works every time.

Sat at a red traffic light. Pull your phone out of your pocket and hold it up against the windscreen. Light instantly changes to green.

Now if this doesn't work tonight, I'll know for a fact that I am truman as someone on here has fed this info back to the producers.

I believe the Truman show feeling is a well studied psychological phenomena and in some severe cases is a psychiatric disorder.

When it comes to these chances occurrences they can seem completely improbable like winning the lottery but the actual total state space if heavily constrained. This is often studied with the occurrence where you go on holiday to some far flung country and meet a friend by chance at the airport. The probabilities are a lot higher than a complete uniform distribution would dictate. You tend to have similar ideas and hobbies to your friends and would go on vacation in similar places to at least a sub-set. You mostly take vacations at the same time of year, and more often fly out on a Saturday or at least Sunday. there are not a huge amounts of times that you can fly into an airport, e.g. you fly to the US you will often arrive in the late afternoon/evening from a morning departure. If you go to some small airport out in the boonies then there are very few flights at all, so the probability of being on the same flight increases a lot.

And then there is the tendency to ignore all the time where no such odd coincident happens. How many minutes have you lived where nothing odd happened, yet there were2-3 occasions where you bump into old friend at a random location, think of a distant friend a day before he calls you etc.

Better book myself into the doctors

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Truman_Show_delusion

They have met, since 2002, with over a dozen individuals, primarily white men between 25 and 34,[7]suffering from the delusion. They have reported that one patient traveled to New York City after 9/11 to make sure that the terrorist attacks were not a plot twist in his personal Truman Show, while another traveled to a Lower Manhattan federal building to seek asylum from his show.[3] Another patient had worked as an intern on a reality TV program, and believed that he was secretly being tracked by cameras, even at the polls on Election Day in 2004. His shout that then-President George W. Bush was a "Judas" brought him to Bellevue Hospital and Gold's attention.[7]

ok, I'm not that bad

Ohh, what's really going to bake your noodle later on is, would you still have broken it if I hadn't said anything?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solipsism and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brain_in_a_vat are pretty interesting reads that go along similar lines to the Truman Show Delusion.

Just like the Matrix Hypothesis though, if we lived in some kind of illusionary system, how would you ever know? Even if we get 'woken up' ala Neo in the Matrix, how would we ever know that we're not just waking up in a new simulation?

I feel weird sometimes, like I lack some sort of empathy. I feel like I'm acting a lot of the time just to get by social situations.

On idea I can't buy into is the multiple universe theory whereby if I stop at a red light in this universe there is another universe where I run the red light and cause an accident.

There are just too many outcomes to possibly be catered for.
