So i was involved in a crash on a major A road the other party decided do you turn straight across my path since then he's gone on holiday and hasn't reported to his insurance company yet. My car is a write off and my insurance company are taking my hire car away on monday until he admits fault where do I stand on this? As I need a car to go back to work and cannot afford to buy one at this moment in time.

Contact his insurance company and if they won't sort you a courtesy car your only real choice is a claims management company.

Might prove a bit more difficult if he hasn’t bothered to inform them I imagine, but if it’s as clear cut as you say they’ll happily deal with it themselves to save the extra cost they’ll end up paying if a claims management firm get involved. At least that’s what I’d expect!

I would be wary of doing that, I get the feeling claiming it back will become a never ending nightmare.

Can you not rent a car yourself and claim back the costs?

I have to do this with work quite often and it is a pain and it takes quite a long time for the payment to come through (month, rather than weeks).

It may be your only option though if you can afford it.
