Keep it short and sweet, I need:

CPU
Mobo
RAM
Cooler

I already have everything else including SSD's, a 970 and a SF 850w PSU.

I would like to be able to do everyday computing and play games like Planet Coaster and the odd game like Tomb Raider at 1920X1080. Primarily though, I game on my PS4 Pro.

Could I do it for £500?

Thanks for that, looks good, but what if I wanted to stick with Intel?

Board comes with Steam Voucher- take about 10-14 days- thread open on here

need a cooler if you havent got one

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £527.47
(includes shipping: £10.50)

performs better then Ryzen 1600 most of the time in GAMES
more you can OC that ram kit the better it will perform as you can OC the CPU- so faster Ram helps performance - like ryzen- loves fast ram

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £507.47
(includes shipping: £10.50)

basically an i5 7600k now as they have 4 cores and no longer 2 cores 4 threads
overclock that ram to 3800!!!! should fly!

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £495.47
(includes shipping: £10.50)

Decent options there. i3-8350K would also need a cooler but I would avoid as both games you mentioned love using threads, as well as fast cores.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £508.05
(includes shipping: £11.10)

This comes with two free games, keep or sell (if sell then get an even better cooler). And comes in under budget with your free shipping.

Thanks, but I’m leaning towards the 8600k and an AIO cooler, it just looks an amazing CPU for the money and should easy do me for 3-4 years. It probably would like a better GPU, but I can’t justify the cost with mostly playing games like Cities and Planet coaster at 1080p, and having a PS4 pro.

@Danny75 is right, my bad- completely forgot with the K versions

and 6700k system linked is pretty good - performs same as 8600k when both at stock speeds i believe

id do the i3 K or 8400 .....

Played Skylines a lot and would use 13GB of system ram!!!!!! with mods and mods! better now traffic system has been updated so cuts mods but still....

Not really. You mentioned needing a cooler just in front of the 8600K spec, just wanted to make sure Rob knew that applied further down the thread to the 8350K too. :)

Yes. Was just a cheaper option albeit older platform. But seems Rob is going to stretch budget with AIO so might as well bite the bullet and go for new platform.
