Hi to you all. At the moment i have a sabertooth 990FX board, FX 8350 cpu, 16gb ram and a g1 gtx970 on windows 10. The board is starting to break down so it's time to move on. i would like to move over to Intel, i don't know anything about intel builds as i have always used AMD. I have £650 to play with. I already have a G1 gtx 1070 still boxed waiting for a new system
can anyone please advise whether this bundle from here is ok for me as of 2017 or is it out of date. I will be only using the system for race sims right up to Pcars 2 all running on a Benq GW2760 1080p. I will include 16gb ddr4 ram to this system https://www.overclockers.co.uk/giga...d-i7-6700k-4.60ghz-bundle-bu-206-oe.html#t=b1
If this is no good, can anyone please recommend the 3 parts i require to make up the build, Board, ram, cpu. Thanks in advance for any help, advice

@Danny75 not sure if you quoted this package in another thread or was it slightly different ? think it was as your one linked had money off??

£20 steam voucher with the board... will need a CPU cooler, overclock that ram to 3800hz ! or as close to :)

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £659.47
(includes shipping: £10.50)

Ryzen , the 1700 performs the same as 1600 version which is roughly in line with the 8400/600 but extra two cores will have a longer life

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £561.47
(includes shipping: £10.50)

Yes, slightly different and cheaper. Also has the two free games like the one Menace specced.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,257.68
(includes shipping: £11.70)

The binned 4.7Ghz CPU+motherboard bundle along with separate RAM and cooler is £35 cheaper in total than the larger bundle, even with the faster RAM. That's not a bad speed at all for Skylake. Remember some not quite reaching and 4.7 being "good".

Anyway, 8600K or 6700K, it's a question of money really. Performance will be practically identical, clock for clock.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £617.09
(includes shipping: £11.10)

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £706.46
(includes shipping: £10.50)

Could bring the 8600K spec down by saving £10 on the RAM and maybe £20 on the motherboard. Making it £60 difference between the two.

Not sure if cooler is actually needed or an existing one can be re-used.

Awesome :D

OP will have all bases covered haha

Love those wing boost fans , had them on my Ultra System with 1080 G1/Windforce

Some more options even:

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £227.69
(includes shipping: £8.70)

With X299 MSI Raider (not available from OcUK). £428 total.

And 6 core/12 thread for even less:

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £420.48
(includes shipping: £10.50)

I think the 7740X, as good a price on it as it is, can be discounted, because it doesn't really offer as much as the 8600K for gaming, nor the value for money of the 6700K, nor the extra cores/threads of the 6800K.

So for me choice would be:

6700K value for money.

8600K slightly better gaming, very slight. And more M.2 support.

6800K if you fancy even more cores/threads. It could last that little bit longer, performance-wise, as games start to make use of all these cores on Intel and AMD's new platforms. But it's a toss-up. Either way can't go wrong.

@Danny75, Wow the system you have selected is £617.09 delivered, thats a very nice saving. Is there any benefit from me getting there pre overclocked bundle or should i get the parts separately and build it up myself? But most of all is this system still good for 2017

Would personally get the Bundle with the Team Group Ram - but pay the extra £10 for 8 Pack version which is on sale at £188- that's Samsung chips and can in theory over clock to 4000hz , should get 3600 easily !

It's still be good for a good few years :D

Yes your right i will thank him right now. I have just ordered as you suggested

:) OCUK has excellent Customer service and RMA - but Gigabyte has a few reps on the forum very active here if you do run into any problems, Board and GPU rma center is also north of london .... but touch wood your parts never have to go there :D

no worries, my self and others happy to help out - if you got the 8 Pack version - he can also lend a few pointers - as its his name on the product haha

Pre-binned normally means the have been "speed" tested or tested for 2 hours or so to see if it can hit that speed and guarantee that the CPU should it that speed!

with the latest Gen Pre-binned chips also have liquid metal between the chip and the metal sink to get temps down but dont think this one does
