Looking for a second car for the wife to run about in.
Budget is around 10k but the cheaper the better tbh, looking at the small petrol engined things, VW up, twingo citigo, that kind of thing, happy to look at 3-5 year old cars too.
Five doors might be useful but not a deal breaker, anyone got opinions on these things?
(Like the new Ignis but don't think it could be had in budget and probably not going to hold any kind of value!)

Hyundai i10

With easily get you around and decent options for the price.

You should be able to get a year old 1.2 Premium SE quite easily. I don't think they have sat nav only the newer 2017 model. But you get cruise control, bluetooth, heated seats, heated steering wheel, led running day lights etc etc.

Does motors not recommend a Focus 1.6 anymore? :(

As you say it's a second car and little run around, you probably aren't too interested in it having loads of kit. Which is probably handy as the Up! doesn't usually come with much added, but is meant to be a great little drive.

should have said I have a serious aversion to focus/mondeo/fiestas!

Dagenham dustbin disinclination, (I know they are not built in Dagenham anymore).

I will also be looking for a small city car in the new year. Retirement means less driving.

Its just a running thing, because in motors those three are the usual suggestion depending on what size car you’re after. :)

Either that or something well over the top.

I think the standard one for motors is either a 5 series BMW or a Mazda MPS now but yeah the Ford love-in was long lived

Abarth 500? Small, fun to drive, economical (my partners averaged 42mpg), reasonably quick (in comparison to similar types of cars)

Curveball?

Depends what she needs though really. The Ion is literally a city car; good for about 50 miles. The Zoe will do 80-100, so a bit more flexible and a better spec'd car. That model has no battery rental and will rapid charge at 43kWh (80% charge in 20 minutes). A battery lease model would be about £4k cheaper, with a £49-£89 monthly payment (milage dependant).

If she wants a city car for what they were designed for, it's worth considering electric.
