Ghostwatch

Imagine if they had the balls to broadcast a new, updated one of these. There would be hordes of SJW types all getting 'triggered' and running crying to their safe spaces to bash out complaints and whine on social media with hashtags.

It would be great. #BringBackPipes

Because as we know, 1 complaint = a million complaints :D

It's not up to me or anyone else to prove they don't exist. That's not how this works. People need to prove they DO exist.

Apparently they supposedly only exist wandering dank hallways and opening and closing doors. Amazing!

So you can make a sweeping statement and not provide evidence, but people who believe ghosts are real can't?

;)

I watched this in quiet terror at the time, telling myself it was obviously fake... wasn't it? I didn't sleep right for about a year after haha. #PipesWatchesYouSleep

We then decided to debunk the program by looking at the tv guide/radio times to see if they were in fact going to do through the night updates etc but non were listed. At that point re decided it was bull

Reading the credits was all the confirmation you needed.

I've just watched it again and its aged quite well to be honest, sure theres a bit of wooden acting and parky nearly lols a few times but its not as bad as I remember (I quite enjoyed it). Its still totally obviously a drama though.

Ghosts might or might not be real but michael parkinson is and the phone number was,
they used the same number for crime watch

so called at one point they got 20,000 calls <no one answered

and it was the most scary thing ive ever watched ever
And it was brilliant, back in the day my sister was hiding behind the sofa, old man kept saying it was fake i tried to believe him, took me like 3 weeks to get some normal sleep

Then pipes started again

This programme scarred me as a child.
I was in my 20's when this came out and it scared the balls off me - partially because I was alone in my house and there were a lot of trick or treaters knocking on doors whilst I was watching. The premise had never been done before and it frightened the hell out of the whole nation to a large extent.

In all honesty it was brilliant and looking back at it I can't help but admire the mindset that came out with the idea of the show. It's bad enough having it set in Northolt (I work nearby) but having Cwaaaaaaig "Smeghead" Charles as part of the show was comical.

Still got the DVD so I may just watch it at some point during the week.

I remember watching it when it went out and it seemed almost immediately 'pretend' to me. Not least because it so closely echoed the Enfield Poltergeist hoax. I thought at the time that the last moments of the show were designed to leave anyone still under the illusion that it may be real that there was no doubt at all that it was fictional.

I watched this live back in the day the only bit I remember vividly is the bit in the kitchen where the camera pans and catches his reflection in the patio doors, then quickly turns and nobody is there. I think towards the end it was just banging noises and they all legged it? tbh I'd rather watch this on repeat than 'Most Haunted'.

They had a screening of Ghostwatch this evening in London with a Q&A after with the writer. I'd have been keen to go but couldn't.

I remember watching it when it originally came out (25 years ago!) I would have been 8. It absolutely scared me witless!

Was pretty freaky when it first came out as it was presented like it was totally legit. Apparently bbc got a ton of complaints about not clarifying it was an obviously set up show, though you would think the ending sequences with the studio being affected made it obvious enough. Had everyone in school talking about it the next day, i was around 12 at the time.

I remember this so vividly. I was terrified watching it when it first aired. My folks kept asking me if was alright, but I was too scared to admit it, as I didn't want to go in a room on my own. I ended up sleeping in my brothers bed for three days with the light on. Brilliant show- still the scariest thing I've ever watched.
