A new titan X?

Who's still hoping Volta is out early 2k18? This and 1070Ti release just makes me think... Ermmm NOPE.
Although nvidia have cherry picked the dies for the 1070ti by the looks of things and AIB get the lesser ones and FE get the better ones. And they locked down overclocking for AIB. Dirty nvidia not to mention them meeting MSRP of 1070 AIB cards with the 1070ti FE. Total dick move by nvidia. So i can't see them releasing Volta soon because this is a milking technique and tells me they want to milk Pascal much more.

AMD can't even beat shrunk Maxwell lmao :D
I wouldn't laugh. It's bad for gamers. Look at the state of what we got from Intel. Till AMD became relevant again. AMD has done well with Zen they now need to get the Radeon group to follow suit and get something good out the door.

Collectors Edition... Titan XP Freesync and or Asyncrounus Compute edition would be interesting.

Funny you mentioned this. The Nvidia "gsync" laptops are actually "freesync" laptops. There is no module there and is using the open standard.

My reply was sarcastic but you are quite correct. I would love nothing more to see AMD going at it with NVidia, as it is better for us consumers. Both edging one another for the performance crown would be sweet to see.

It's killing me though lol. I find it hard to joke about it anymore. Nvidia are literally laughing their asses off. They didn't need to bring out the 1070ti and in fact screwed over their own AIB by doing so. But from a business point of view nvidia can make even more money doing this, the only card that Radeon could do okay with is the Vega 56 but now no more. Now they are releasing a Pascal Titan collectors edition card. That's how they feel about the competition.

Navi really needs to be special or Volta is going to be more of the same. I think we all know Volta is going to be similar to the leap from maxwell to Pascal at the very least. Possibly might be ever so slightly a better leap. I was expecting more from Vega from what was said about it. It sounded like a lot of work went into Vega but realistically it just seems like a FuryX being shrunk and using HBM2 and a couple new features such as HBCC.

Nvidia are in a complete class of the own and have earned that position. At this moment their performance levels are untouchable.

Oh and I wish people would stop banging on with the "die shrunk" stupid phrase when it's obviously not IMO. In the case of AMD in must have taken a hell of an effort to make it use as much power as it does for little return :D

So if its not a die shrink what is it exactly? Please do tell.

It's just a shrunk Maxwell at an inflated price. I really hope this isn't the Nvidia DX12 strategy :p

Untrue

Maxwell and Pascal perform totally different when run at the same clockspeed which rules out the shrunk Maxwell theory.

Having said that who cares how NVidia got the performance, the bottom line is the Titan Xp is a very fast gaming card with no equal.

Sorry, they wouldn't have invested as much as they have in a die shrink, it's as simple as that. Even if that was part of the process, a hell of a lot of R&D would have gone into the extra improvements. Saying "essentially a die shrink" is rather insulting to the engineers involved I'm sure. Especially in the case of Pascal....die shrunk Maxwell, yeah right.

it's so very easy when you/we don't have the knowledge (that only the manufacturers do have) to simplify something - it's a natural human behaviour/flaw :D
