Gaming PC for £500

Can anyone help me spec a gaming PC with a budgeet of £500, I have come up with the following:-

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £529.53
(includes shipping: £11.70)

On a budget I would shop around for the best prices IMO I would put the extra money on a better GTX and CPU
 
I havent built a pc for a while but in the past always found overclockers to be quite competetive and therefore reverted to being laxy and specing on here only... are you saying this isnt the case anymore?

All I can say is then the new GTX 1080 ti came out it was £850.00 on overclocked but I got mine for just £799.00 just like now the Tower 900 is £249.00 but I got at £201.01 I will not name the other online stores on here because of the last time I was told not to do it I know it's not fair to you.
 
Ok, maybe worth a look on other sites but then again i'm building this for a friend so not my money.. I may just go down the lazy route and order all in one place.

I am now trying to spec an I5 build as I would really like a quad core in the build but struggling to get it in on budget.

I glad I am not your true friend making me pay more money for custom computer when I could got it cheaper
 
Do you really need a wireless card? Do you really need an optical drive? Use the money saved to stretch to a GTX 1050 Ti.

From your original list I would drop the i3 to a pentium and get the gtx1050ti which will in the case of a gaming PC provide more, and better quality frames per second.
Basic rule spend twice as much on the gfx card as you do on the CPU. Also better CPUs should be available 2nd hand soon and GFX card can be upgraded easily in the future.
If you can stretch to a (any) gtx1060 then BYU
 
The appetite comes with the food. Never ever go for a dual core CPU no more! It will severely bottleneck the system and once you begin to do something more, you will regret!

I really like the look of this, much more bang for buck. Unfotunately I think he wants an intel build (maybe I can persuade him otherwise)

Slower CPU (and A320 motherboards can't overclock). And slower GPU. SSD takes it over budget.

In this budget, an AMD CPU gives 4 cores/ 4 threads. i3 is a dual-core :confused: :eek:

SSD is a must-have in a modern system. The SSD will give that feel of much improved responsiveness much needed for the systems, especially those on a tight budget.
The CPU is actually faster than the i3, and the guy will have future upgradeability to Ryzen 2 and Ryzen 3.

My spec has i5-4690 not an i3. You quoted his reply to my spec and said this is (much) better. Looks like you chose the wrong quote if you wanted to contrast to i3.

Yes, SSD's are great. Not always doable on budget (as your spec shows, despite your blather about especially on a tight budget).

It's only a few days ago you were arguing they weren't all that much and weren't much slower because of sequential speed comparison. This isn't the first time you display a childish habit of arguing the direct opposite of what you were saying only a few days ago. Does someone else use your account, or have you no actual belief in what you say and will say anything just to argue? One day it's "go with HDD not SSD!", the next day it's "SSD is a must-have".

I suggest you keep track of what you say, better. Or stop others using your account.

Why does he have to build a new system around the already with dead support i5-4690? :confused: That's childish and stupid :D

About SSDs, yes, I remember but that was another case in which it was better.
Anyways, M.2 SSDs are the best but not everyone has the right budget for them ;)

1. He doesn't have to.
2. His friend requested Intel.
3. OP said he was trying to fit in an i5.
4. Despite older socket, it's faster, DDR3 is cheaper, and GTX 1050Ti is faster.

Yes, it's always better just because you're arguing it, I've noticed. Another recent occasion had you replying to me saying frames aren't everything, for a spec to be used with a 144Hz 1080p monitor, and then days later arguing to someone else that why wouldn't they spec something to provide the frames to match the refresh rate of a 144Hz monitor? I suppose that was a case in which it was better too, just because it was you saying it.
