Labour Minister found dead after allegations

I think the assumption has to be suicide (unless it was some cardiac problem with stress etc).

Very very sad news, and it will be nothing but tragic if the allegations against him turn out to be inflated much ado about nothings.

Shocking news.

Suicide or stress related, a media witch hunt possibly claimed a life.

If guilty, he should be punished, not dead, be that by his own hand or health.

BBC are now reporting he’s taken his own life.

A media witch hunt carried out by the very same media that seems riddled with the same problems, no doubt for example BBC 5 Live will be all over this whilst quietly forgetting to mention their own broadcasters currently suspended for allegedly the same issues... (George Riley - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/201...enter-suspended-complaints-sexual-harassment/ )

The hypocrisy of this makes me sick.

No fan of his political views but feel very sorry for him and his family especially, I can’t begin to imagine the dark place he must have found himself in. R.I.P.

It is amazing how the BBC hardly mention the George Riley story, I am glad someone else pointed this out as i was thinking the same thing last week, as i listen to five live and LBC a lot, mostly 50\50 spread over each station.

RIP

Media witch hunt had a large part to play in this, suicide or not, guilty or not.

or just guilt?

Disgusting behaviour by the media, even if he was guilty of these incidents. Sadly he isn’t going to be the first or last to take his life for such allegations, some people will feel that death is their only peace after having their name tarnished.

didn't they just report it or am i missing something? isn't it normal to report someone being sacked from a prominent public position for sexual abuse?

Guilt perhaps, but is it such that a person should take ones life due to the excess of media exposure before a thorough and fair legal trial?

Suicide indicates guilt to me

The clear implication of Gilligan’s BBC report was that the government had had a hand in an attempt to deceive the public and that Britain’s intelligence services were unhappy with this Whitehall interference. A few days later, in a story in the Mail On Sunday, Gilligan went on to claim that his source had named Alastair Campbell, Tony Blair’s Communications Director as being behind the inflation of the language in the dossier. An act which amounted to bending the truth to suit a political aim. In other words, the prime minister himself had been responsible through his communications chief, of lying to Britain in order to join the Americans in invading Iraq.

David Kelly R.I.P.

:(

I'm not convinced it necessarily indicates guilt. Losing your job is stressful as it is, add in the media and reason only compounds the issue.

I'm not saying he wasn't guilty but I can certainly see the stress being too much even if innocent.

Well with accusations from multiple women independently (and seemingly before the media exposure) I'd be more inclined to assume he's a wrongun.

I have no idea whether he was guilty of any wrongdoing. But regardless, this is a perfect example of why allegations MUST only be acted on after a court conviction.

This #metoo rubbish has to stop. If someone did something then go to the police. Don't hound potentially innocent people (not saying he was guilty or innocent - I am talking in principle).
