Is this the infamous Puma issue of SuperHub3?
Setup is SH3 modem mode + Asus N66U

New VM line activated yesterday so running some monitoring.

Same situation here, been running for years with them and "upgraded" to the box and superhub and now I have this.

Does anyone know what causes the differences with the hub 3? At the minute I'm just running the hub 3 but have been looking at using a standalone router but my connection doesn't look anywhere near as bad as that graph above.

With it being a chipset issue, I would have thought they'd all be very similar??

Nor did mines till I went 350Mb/s, just depends where/how your connected on top of the chipset bug.

Strange thing is though is average latency seems fine it's just the maximum latency seems well out of wack. Seems it must be very short bursts where latency jumps from around 20-25ms then anywhere upto 100-150. I would have thought looking at the maximum it would have made the average jump up abit more than it has.

This is my current connection with FTTC. I don't think i could handle a connection like the above graphs.

Here's my chart so far. 200mb with VM on Superhub 3.

Well they send bursts of 100 pings and it marks in yellow the maximum time any of them took. The graph is somewhat misleading in that you can see a massive amount of yellow yet that's actually showing a minority as seen by the average floating at 20 ping.

So despite it being visually heavy with yellow you wouldn't see anything on a game ping monitor and downloading/uploading bulk wouldn't care.

Does anyone know of any offers on VM, My contact is up and VM is quoting over double of what im paying at the moment for just broadband.

I have to wait for a bill to come through as I changed stuff but my package has a "loyalty discount" which falls off after 12 months.

Some difficult maths then... 200mb + basic phone @ £20 plus line saver

Line saver: £196/12 = £16.33/m

So I'm paying 36.33/m before any phone bills

VM product page says
VIVID 200 fibre broadband and home phone
£39 a month
for 12 months

Then £50 a month
12 month contract
£20.00 activation fee applies
Includes Virgin Phone line

So far as long as I agree to another year and ask them to reinstate the discount its happened.

Couple pounds off the new customer rate as long as I keep renewing a contract each year it seems.

What you have there is exactly what any other customer can do. Anyone can pay the line rental saver so the £20 you are paying is the same deal that you have quoted.

I was going to go for 200mb but in the end my inner geek held out for 300 for a fiver extra.

even as a new customer they are charging £15 more for a lower package.
Thats because you need a different name. My contract was in my parents name as I took over the payment for it years ago and didnt change it. You can do your wifes name (if there's a Mrs2013) so long as the name is different. Surname does not matter.

Indeed but I didn't have to quit and re-sign to not be paying £50/m which some say they do.
Ah didnt catch that, fair enough then. Stupid tactic they are using of increasing prices though.

My family account was with them for nearly 20 years and I had no choice but to cancel and rejoin. Yay for loyalty :(

Fired up the new 300mb line today - getting 388 down and 21 up :o

Not bad for now.

Edit
Looks like they have me on 350 rather than 300mb. Still not bad!

I had a call from VM retentions team this morning or so they say,

He started off oh your paying £80-£90 a month, So I pointed out yes, you have been over charging me, then your paying £48 a month, I pointed out that's what you want to charge me, So He had another look not even confirming my real monthly cost and said the best deal we can do is £34 a month -£1 for 100mb less then what the cancellation team quoted me and the cancellation team also offered £30 off the first month, I pointed this out and he started going on about I'm offering you a better deal you cant get anything as good from other suppliers best you can get is 78mb, He would not listen or even look at what I was paying or what other i know got quoted, He just said that was not true.

It looked like he was not bothered he tried to charge me more and got annoyed when pointed it out.

So i just hung up, I did have a few nice words for him but its better i didn't share them.
