Xbox One X

I'm a complete sucker for new tech. I'm sitting here thinking I could sell my PS4 Pro, PSVR and 1080p TV and get an Xbox One X and 4k TV instead.

There's a few exclusives that I'd miss but I could pick up a PS4 Slim at some point to get those.

Someone tell me this is a stupid idea.

It is because it's more than just a few exclusives you'll be missing out on. Have you seen the Xbox exclusives?
 
Got my X yesterday and I'm really impressed. Seen a few people who are asking about is it worthwhile to make the switch from PS4 to Xbox, my advice is don't look at the hardware... look at what your friends are playing and which lineup of existing and upcoming titles appeals more. I would not say the difference in quality is not "night and day" but they both output high quality graphics, equally I've been stunned at the quality of Horizon on my PS4 Pro and Forza 7 on my X and I would say I'd be hard pressed to say which console produces the better picture from my experiences.

That said if you own a gaming PC I would even suggest not to bother getting one as really there is little to entice, due to my own personal circumstances I will not have many opportunities to play on my PC and need to be downstairs more with my wife and soon to be newborn. I needed the ease of a console and wanted to continue to play MS games hence my decision to buy, I am playing 4k HDR and I did have an S.. if you are not fussed on graphical quality but want an Xbox than go for an S, if like me you are crap at saving money than buy an X, Pro and high end gaming PC lol

I've had a quick play of it now, in places it looks quite nice but there's something just not quite right about it. I'm not sure if the HDR is working properly as the gradation of colours in places looks terrible, banding and pixelated.

The gameplay is smooth however there is popup at time, also and quite annoying is the textures, there is a short distance in front of you where the textures just drop in resolution and quality and just fill in. At one point I thought I was walking towards a barrier but it turned out to be just a straight line of fog.

Here's a quick screen shoot (reduced in size)... original being played on a 4K TV with HDR etc:

At a quick glance it suggests to me that the textures are not fully rendered. What is your internet connection like? I used to have a similar issue on PUBG but installed to an SSD on my PC and it appeared to solve it.

My internet is fine, about 50mb. That was taken after leaving enough time for texture loading, it just follows you around lol
 
Spent £450 on an XB1X and today I have spent 6 hours playing Oblivion! To be fair, the up-spuffing is pretty good,the vistas still pop and that music.....oh my word THAT MUSIC!

Also picked up Dark Souls 2 and Final Fantasy XV which Ive not played before and I downloaded Sunset Overdrive from GamePass. Sunset Overdrive is an amazing game and I cant believe its not held in higher regard than it is.
 
I had very little pop in during game play, only time was after death for few seconds.

I did find some levels look great, and others ok

My game installed on external HDD, maybe helping?

I actually finally got put into another map and this one looked much better, actually really nice! (although there was still some dodgy shadows in places). Maybe you are right some maps look better than others. The ones that looked worse was the earth textures etc maybe that is just an issue atm.

I haven't played the campaign yet as I was saving that.

On the plus side OLEDs have come down in price a lot in the last year so heading in the right direction.
 
Well mine turned up about half an hour ago. Pretty cool to order it at 14:50 and have it turn up at 17:00 :) Haven't had it out the box yet but will be interested to see how Forza 7 compares to the PC version. It'll be a lot less hassle taking the X around rather than the PC anyway.
 
Coming from the PS4 pro (still own) to the X, I must say this console is brilliant so far, compact, nice and quite and graphically I feel like this is on another level, I did not get the same feeling when I bought the Pro.
I have only played AC origins, but I'm completely blown away at how good it looks.

If anyone think's next gen is only around the corner, well there is no need, the X is just that.
 
caved in and got one today.
Only had a brief go on Quantum break so far, but it really pops graphically now, on my new tv:)
Downloading Gears 4 at the moment.
Super quiet system, and no power brick:)
very impressed so far
Do the games download already patched?
