Firstly, This isnt a medical thread before i begin iv had all medical advice i could possibly get and the diagnosis is what it is

Right were to begin. Two days ago which i don't remember iv had a wisdom tooth out by specialist surgeons due to the complex nature of how it was sat on/near a nerve which was done under just local anesthetic injections.

Come to yesterday morning iv woken up and im missing just over 2 months of my life, my memory is gone. Wiped as if it never happened. In this time iv moved and bought a house, lost a job somehow and various other things. Of course some serious confusion involved here has scared the life out of me i don't know if to laugh or cry its a little bit hard. Hospitals confirmed iv had an allergic reaction and iv got short term memory loss because of this which has hit me quite badly and i could recover most of it within 3 months or not recover any at all and just continue like them 2 months never happened

My fiance is very good shes been amazing with me helping me out making sure i know what i should be doing were things are etc and my family know. But the issues i don't now know how to over-come is people iv met over the past 2 months iv now completely forgotten and have absolutely no clue of who they are but they know me and about me. Telling someone you don't remember them is horrible and i don't want to insult folks i don't even know. How to approach job interviews and being asked what iv been doing? as i truly don't know.

Wanted to know if anyone's suffered amnesia or quite bad memory loss before and how they coped also?
Wanted to post here as usual GD responses will be good but may also get a few serious responses

Wait, when you say "2 days ago you had a wisdom tooth out".

In this 2 days since you lost a job, bought a house?

Or was it you forgotten why you lost a job, and you found out you bought a house, which none of that is a result of the memory loss.

If it's the latter then I guess there is not much you can do and in a year's time, this won't matter. I won't remember what I did last summer !

That money you owe me, there is no rush to pay it back.

Seriously though that sounds horrid, hopefully you regain the memories if that's even possible!

Whelp - suddenly finding you've lost your job not knowing about it and the last memory being a couple of months back like it was yesterday is messed up.

Forgot why i lost my job and found out in that time frame id bought a house somehow which is no relation to the memory loss, just i woke up in a house i didn't recognize as i believed i was still in september and i should have been living in my rented house

As an aside - if you've not done so go back read your past posts on here from that time period if you've been posting - brain tends to be able to remake associations, etc. and can help to put back together what seems like unconnected memories and so on (won't necessarily happen immediately).

Get as much rest as you can, the body needs it to heal. In the grand scheme of things, two months is nothing. I'm 50, and many years blur into one another. Find out the name of the anaesthetic for your own reference and make sure its added to your notes that you have an adverse reaction to it - last thing you want is a repeat of the problem.

And this is GD, so pics of fiancee required.

I think social media could come in useful here - I mean you could post some status reflecting your situation for a start so that people know (if you want everyone to know that is).

I'd also check back all your 'events' on Facebook and go through your messages/e-mails etc.. I mean other than if I met someone randomly in a bar or something I'd generally have some sort of audit trail in my text messages, on WhatsApp or on Facebook where I know I've been to some birthday party, meet up event, work do etc.. where I may have met new people.

The awkwardness or embarrassment will be temporary, you only need to mention it once to people and that'll be that, another day goes by is another day better and another day further away.

Look on your Facebook (if you post a lot), look on your phone calendar, look at your wallets for receipts, paper clues, things like that to jog your memory or may be evidence to yourself what you have done.

I can't imagine you've met many new people in 2 months. No one who matters anyway.

I can't remember much of a whole decade and get by just fine.

My nan woke up one morning and couldn't remember anything at all other than names of family, had no idea her husband had died etc.

Stress related the doctors said, it came back eventually, took a few weeks but she fully recovered.

Yeah iv tried all the obvious bits, social media really paints very little. Iv done a lot to my house as iv been taking before and after photos in my phone which is kinda nice to see. Forums i have not posted a great deal really same for reddit etc.

Emails paints a bit better of an idea but again i guess most of it i was working until afew weeks back.

All in all vague stuff i don't have a massive social presence i just exist in that ill post weekly/monthly bracket so i cannot work out all my meals as i dont take a photo of all my meals and starbucks as some do. Though it may of been useful here

Im trying to work out who you are. Iv missed a name change thread by the looks of it!

I'm Diddums :D

That's the spinning top from Inception, sadly I can't offer anything worthwhile to this thread but hopefully your humour isn't broken :)
