Never seen an Alpina one of these before

Although not a genuine Alpina it would seem, just the normal 4L v8 instead of the 4.7 in the Alpina version...

Still cool. I do love those.

I dont mind alpina-ised old BMW's as long as theyre done properly. (i.e engine changed to be the same etc) rather than just putting stickers on it.

Such a timeles design, hands down one of the best looking bimmers ever made. And pop up lights. Bitches love pop up lights.

An actual good looking BMW :D

The 850s are worth silly money now, the 840s are on the way up as well.

It's getting sad. I am now old enough and financially stable to have a play about with cars like these although they are no longer 5k or less like they were a few years ago. Taking a 850 across western Europe would have been lovely.

Do the prices of cars like this ever go down back to sensible money? what happened in the financial crash?

Maybe that, but maybe because they just don't make cars like that any more and people want one before they are gone.

Many of the 90s and early 00s performance cars are better and quicker than the ones that came after. They are very light with minimal gimmicks (not the 8 series though, it was far to heavy lol).

About 15 years ago a friend of mine inherited an 850 CSL (Ci? Dunno, the special edition one) and within a fortnight it gave up the ghost. He wanted a Lancia Delta Integrale and was €900 short, so offered me the bimmer for that. Turns out it was a faulty ECU system and I could've sorted it for €400. So for €1300 I could've had the top dog 8 series with the V12. I was young and stupid so said no, I saw that exact same car for sale about 4 years ago for €25k in mint condition.

Rarely have I experienced such regret. What an epic car.

Saw a dude today as I was driving out with his Vantage in a Shell drive through car wash, I think I vomited a little. (sorry no pic was well past him). Some people boggle my brain :(
