Hello Everyone,

I have a budget of 500.00. I want to be able to run games such as Wolfenstein II, Destiny etc on HIGH SETTINGS?

Here are my specs;
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz
RAM - 16GB
System type - 64-bit OS, X64 based processor
GPU: GeForce GTX 670

Is it possible for me to upgrade to an AMD GRAPHICS CARD? AMD are much cheaper than Nvidia and I have heard that their graphics cards are just as good and for half the price. I heard the 580 is supposed to be the equivalent to a GTX 1080.

Is this possible or would I have to upgrade something else to be able to get an AMD Graphics Card.

Thanks!

Your CPU may be older generation but will still hold up fine playing todays games... Id upgrade your GPU but AMD cards seem to have risen in price thanks to mining... Im not 100% sure on your last part about the 580 being on par with a 1080, im not familiar with that end of the budget spectrum :D

Yeah. No. The 580 is on par with the 1060. The vega 64 is close to the 1080. The current state of the market has made the amd cards slightly more expensive than the Nvidia equivalent.

But the rest of your system is fine. Basically any of the current gen graphic cards will do well for you. 1060/570/580 for 1080p 1070/1070ti/vega56 for 1440p 1080/vega64/1080ti for just about, but not quite 4k :p

Been doing research on a new GPU myself, Gamers Nexus on YT have some great video comparisons of the latest cards but no way is a 580 equivalent to a 1080, 580 is basically equal to a 1060 depending on game... Pricing for new GPUs is not the greatest at all..

Yes, you just need a new GPU. You are, however, misinformed about the price / performance of AMD's GPUs. You may be thinking of AMD's CPUs which have more cores.

Before we can recommend a GPU, we need to know which PSU you own. AMD GPUs require more power than Nvidia GPUs. A GTX 1060 or 1070 should do you fine. A GTX 1080 Ti will handily cope with 4K, BTW.
