Personalised plates

I've had a private plate on there for over 10 years with the spacing moved 1 character to the right, so instead of XX XXX it reads as X XXXX.

Never been pulled for it (touch wood) and when a policeman pulled me for speeding it wasn't mentioned. It must get recognised on ANPR, I don't think the ANPR machines worry about the spacing because the reg could be on 1 line of text or 2, depending on the type of vehicle.

Lots of people are amazed how I managed to get a plate which reads my name, how much was it etc. I like it and seeing it in a car park full of meaningless random numbers still makes me smile occasionally.

Haters gonna hate!

Put one on my car last week, before this I've never had a private plate....

This is only slightly mis-spaced but the front is also 2/3rds size so it doesn't scrape the road as much. With it sitting on the splitter, without a reduced size I can't really get over speed bumps.

If you need to move letters, use coloured screw caps or mask stuff to get it to mean anything you failed.

I saw a Lambo on the way home earlier. 2 numbers and 2 letters.. that’s a private plate.

Rangy near me - N1.

Now that's a plate.

Worth pointing out as well that he has 2 range rovers on the driveway - the combined value of which is probably more than his house. As is the plate alone...

I dont think that's always the case. My dads name is stuart and he had 5TU on one car and 9TU on another with a screw cap on the 9 to look like an S again.

My old man's mate has DAD1 and MUM1.

There was an old boy round our way with V12. Used to be on a old Jag. So it fitted!...Last time I saw the plate it was on a VW Passat.

You really think having a totally different plate to the one registered to the car is practically the same as a plate with a screw in a certain place?

It maybe slightly illegal but does it overly matter? It's not hurting anyone is it?

If it cant be read properly by an ANPR system then it allows the driver to break all kinds of laws - potentially hurting someone.
