Seems to be causing quite a stir but I'm not exactly sure why? The filter that does it seems to be a little OTT for sure, are women worried about men using photos like in the article to see how they may look without it or something?

It has to work with limited information so it's adding generic imperfections. It will always be bad.

It's clickbait in the form of an app.

A stupid app.

This thread could go one of two ways :

standard moan about women and feminists because 'GD'

OR

members posting themselves with the app before and after so we can all have a laugh at the walking dead like monstrosities we are turned into

Screaming "IST" and "ISM" now is just an exercise in exerting power. The words have become meaningless to a certain extent and are bandied around by the "oppressed" in an attempt to cause grief for the "oppressor".

If you perceive yourself as "oppressed" then you can use an "ism" word to hassle your enemies.

It's just a stupid app, I'm sure plenty of women are downloading it right now to have a good old laugh at the generic horror shows that it throws up and winding up their mates with it.

The best thing to do with screaming lunatics is ignore them, they want an audience to play up to so don't give it to them.

Not owned

Blade Runner, as I'm sure you know featured an 'Esper' machine which let Deckard look around corners in bathrooms and stuff from a 2D image to see things that would never have been photographed.

Except here we're talking about photographs of people's faces. Which you clearly acknowledged in your post. And we can look at a 2d image in 3d.

I thought Women didn't wear makeup for men though

The outrage over this app is giving it all the advertising, attention and money it could ever need.

Ideally we can get an app that removes their clothes too. I wouldn't even consider that sexist and would enjoy the outrage.

I can see that not working so well.

Faces tend to have clear edges, wear loose enough clothing and the guesswork of the program could be hilariously off.

The app is scammy, it will do it's thing regardless of the person in the photo actually having makeup on, the algorithm just lightens darker areas on the face, and adds random wrinkles/lines/spots
