They never did.
They run their own network in its own right, so they compete with Vodafone, O2 and EE in that regard.

They do have a mast sharing agreement (MBNL) with EE, so their 3G coverage is reasonably similar. 4G coverage does differ though, so best to check it.

You might be thinking, though, of the network sharing agreement they had initially with o2 (until around 2007ish) and thereafter with Orange. This is still operating in some bits of Wales and the Highlands (and perhaps here and there elsewhere), but it's not nationwide. It only gives you 2G for voice and sms, no data is allowed over it.

Just got a deal with Virgin £15/m 20gb 5000mins and unlimited texts.

Unused data also rolls over for one month which is quite cool.

I went for a Sky Mobile deal on iphone 8. £31 a month, unlimited calls and texts and 1Gb data; unused data rolls over to following month. £105 cashback through Quidco. For one of my kids but I was happy enough with that. Can sell on their 5s too.
