no, affirmative action is very real at plenty of US universities - exceptions are for example public universities in California thus the highly selective UC Berkeley which doesn't practice affirmative action ends up with a very large Asian American student population (by far the largest ethnic group on campus)

American college admission policies aren’t based solely on grades. Asian Americans tend to have better than average grades but are weaker than average when it comes to other criteria such as extracurricular activities (voluntary work, sports participation, etc.).

I think part of the reason, actually the only reason its so expensive is because when was the last time a Da Vinci came up for sale? Can you imagine what would happen if the Mona Lisa were to come up for sale?! It'd hit a billion+

The last time this came up, an article was provided as evidence of this anti-Asian American student bias. It provided stats on grades vs admission. The article itself talked about how colleges were looking for more than just grades and how Asian Americans could appear more well-rounded. For example, American colleges take sport very seriously and the article talked about how sports participation amongst Asian American is incredibly low.

perhaps it might be more helpful if you posted the article you're referring to? I think you're clutching at straws a bit if you're trying to attribute the differences simply to sports... not to mention you're ignoring the example of UC Berkeley which doesn't practice affirmative action (as California law prevents it) and surprise surprise ends up with 40%+ Asian Americans... I think you'll find they play sport too which somewhat undermines that argument
