Would this be legal (Advertising at night)

last night in Cambridge vicinity, A road, no street lights, saw first digital advertising hoarding on a lorry side, similar to below,
Extremely bright, distracting, in a lay-by not so far from a road bend.
I had contemplated ringing the police
Against the flow I was travelling - I thought it was a 'screwfix' static add, from mirror.

But I am intrigued what kind of action sequences would be legal

Many night clubs in South Africa do this already, massive search lights shining in the air to promote them. We also saw quite a few in Vegas and obviously the Luxor hotel is known for having the strongest beam of light in the world (dunno if this is still the case, certainly way 10 years ago, could also be seen from space apparently).

We had the opportunity to use some kind of bat light when i was running our club nights as a DJ/promoter, didnt bother as we thought it was wasted money, this was 10 years ago.

Doubt they'd stick otherwise everything outside of a car window could be sued. There fault for not paying attention to the road.
That said when they safely arrive where they should they will look in the sky and see what it was.
How about people walking then and not people driving.

Which road out of interest?

Isn't their a loophole about advertising on a wheeled vehicle, hence the "abandoned" lorry trailord in fields with ads on them?

I think the loophole that allows trailers in fields is in regards to them being off the road, on private (usually farm) land X distance from the road.

yup there is indeed - the 'loophole' AFAIK is simply that unlike say building a fixed structur for advertising you don't need planning permission to park a vehicle/trailer in a field... (you may or may not need to move it periodically though??)

My first thought is no, since it's not being done now and I'm sure I'm not some genius who has thought of this first.

Anyway. Was talking to a friend about his business and I wondered if using a very high powered focused light to create a bat symbol style thing in the clouds of their logo. Would it be illegal.

I'm guess some light pollution rules mean its not above board probably do with planes etc but I cannot find anyway of Googling the answer.

Anyone know.

Must be legal as a nightclub in southend of all places fires high powered lasers into the sky. Mind you not sure I have seen it more recently since southend airport has been expanding. You could see them from my house, I'll go out later and see if they are still there :)
