Hi all
This is my first time picking parts and building my pc after put ps4 away. Computer will be only for gaming. I'm wondering is it good idea go for lga 2066 or stick with 1151? also want to buy this monitor asus pg278qr 27” 2560x1440 165hz (separate saving money 600)

Thanks for any help and sorry for my incomplete language.

over £500 on a monitor

I would rather spend maybe £200 on a monitor and put the other 300 in to your gpu and processor :)

Also isnt that monitor 3D? i tought home 3D was now obsolite?

NOW thats the thing, Gsync (and I guess Freesync) do make a difference in games, smooths out the action and makes it fluid. These technologies cost money.

A 166+ Hz monitor with Gsync etc is damn nice to play on.

At OP do you need a tower, Operating system, keyboard, mouse, speakers etc?

I would much prefer an IPS panel than TN which your mentioned monitor has.
Unless you want to reach high levels of e-sports you really don't need a 1ms response time. Also I don't think I can notice any difference above 100Hz. I think 165Hz above 144Hz is just trying to impress you with a number.
My priority is nice graphics and virtually no game I play stays at even 144Hz (at 1440p) at highest settings with my 1080ti.

Hi,
Full tower would be nice with plenty space for (maybe in future) cpu water cooling, no need speakers, keyboard and mouse they do not matter.

You are right, which monitor above 60 hz is worth attention?

The Define S case has much more watercooling options as it doesnt have any internal drive cages (all hidden around the back).

Asrock customer support is no where near as good as Gigabytes whom have a UK based RMA;) P.S £20 STEAM voucher with the Gigbayte board which is also at a reduced special price.

The AsRock board is much superior for overclocking, which is clearly what the OP intends to do with a custom loop. For the case, you can just remove some of the drive cages, and you can also install storage behind the motherboard tray. Either case is great for water cooling, but the R5 is on offer and has a few extra features.

I also don't think recommending 3000mhz RAM on such a high-end build is a great idea. Samsung B-die leaves much more room for overclocking or tightening up CL timings.

The Ultra gaming will do fine for overclocking and 5Ghz is easy if you have a good CPU, keep the Vcore under 1.4V and you are golden.

P.S custom loop does not mean overcloking, it could be for quietness or looks;)

Faster RAM doesnt really do much for gaming which is what the OP wants this for - https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews..._Memory_Performance_Benchmark_Analysis/9.html

The Phanteks is a beter case than the R5 for water cooling as you have much more headroom for thicker radiators which wont impact the VRM cooling or the 8pin ATX connector;)

2000 £ gaiming pc for newbie

A newbie, doesnt sound like he would care about RAM die and manual overclocking, more set a preset and go.

Just expanding on the excellent list above, coolers and cases that are on sale

Bar the Dark 700 which just looks awesome

My Aorus K3 runs fine, kit 3777hz , need to change kits to hit 4000 hopefully

If you think he cares so little about overclocking why is he getting an 8700k? Doesn't make sense. Might aswell recommend a budget Z370 board + 8700 (non-K).

Obviously you have an inability to read.

He wants best single threaded performance.

The 8700K is the fastest out of the box at 3.7GHz, the 8700 is slower at 3.2GHz base clocks.

Why are the quoting the pointless base clock speeds? You do realise that he wouldn't be at those speeds whilst gaming? Look at what the all core boost speeds are...

Anyway, this is going nowhere. Until the OP says more of what he wants, and what his intentions for the custom loop are, we're speculating.

Nice conversation, im would like my pc has enough power to run games in 2560x1440 on max details. I read that R7 has problem with single thread games. Also i need full tower case for cpu watercooling (maybe in future, save my time and money for case swap). Question why 8700k, overclocking, never did this before but want to try.

The 8700K is the fastest one for that chipset.

Its that simple.

You can overclock K CPUs very simply either manually or via a bunch of various preset speeds in the motherboards BIOS or Software.

I use a 8700K and a GTX1080 (non Ti) and run a 1440P gsync monitor and it does not struggle one bit, settings all the way up.
