Best graphics card for ~£250

I'm considering building a new PC and have picked everything except the graphics card. What is currently the best card for around £250? I only really play WoW, Overwatch and Dota2 at 1920x1200 res, so it will have to be able to max those without any issue (not that that's very difficult)

I saw OCUK is currently selling the PowerColor Radeon RX 580 Red Devil 8192MB for £259.99 but I'm not sure if it's overkill for my needs. I've also read it consumes a lot of power, and ideally I'd like something cheaper. Any recommendations?

That or a GTX 1060 are ~£250 cards, although the RX 580 is often sold at an inflated price so the GTX 1060 is the default choice.

I use an RX 480 (the non-overclocked version of the RX 580) for Overwatch at 1440p very high settings so that type of card would be perfect for that game at 1080p.

I've decided I'd rather go with nvidia this time since my last 3 cards were AMD and they've all died for various reasons. I'm tempted by the MSI GeForce GTX 1060 Gaming X 6144MB because it has such great reviews, a bit more expensive though. Is it overkill for dota 2 and overwatch at 1920x1200? Will I be able to max out more recent/new games?

If your last three AMD cards have died then I would be more worried about your system or the wiring in your home.

Having said that there are plenty of deals for the GTX1060 and RX580 8GB for under £250 today. PLENTY!!

If you are going to spend £300 you might as well get a GTX1070. Having said that what is your CPU and what PSU do you have??

That looks a great option - good card and from a company with decent support. I'd take it over the MSI 1060 any day.

Edit: the MSI 1060 is also more expensive! Ouch.

Yep. I'd definitely be looking into the power supply if 3 cards have all gone down.

Reality is probably just that he thinks AMD are a bit crap based on how vocal Nvidia fans are and the various old issues that still give AMD a rep they don't deserve. :p Instead of just stating they want to stick with Nvidia, they made a story up about dying AMD cards, but that has now got you asking more questions than you would have otherwise if OP had just stated a preference for Nvidia. :D
