A large van delivered some sofas to my house. The driver accidentally reversed the van onto my neighbours lawn and caused a lot of damage to it, especially because it was wet. The neighbour wants compensation to cover the costs of repairing the lawn. The sofa company who own the van are not interested. What options are available to my neighbour?

With number plate phone 101 report damage to private property, have witnesses, claim insurance win win

You can mount a property damage claim via their vehicle insurance policy. Can use a claims management company or similar to make it more painful for them if they won't play ball. Make sure they report it to the police though, it's still an accident even if there was no other car involved. Lawn is no different to a fence or wall in these cases.

Really?

Suing over some grass... jesus friggin christ...

"get a grip" would be my advice.

Court lol?

Isn't this is why third party insurance is legal minimum for driving in UK? Your neighbour is the third party, shouldn't matter if it not a car that's been damaged. All insurance policies cover other people's property including cars.

Sue for 100 trillion pounds, suffering from PTSD, unable to sleep, marriage breakup, loss of sexual health, effecting physical and mental health, had nervous breakdown, heart attack, unable to walk and talk, crimes against humanity, now in a permanent vegetated state, disfigured and wheelchair bound all because of damage to lawn.
