The battery drain on my S6 has been a lot worse with this new update than it was before. I thought the drain issue sorted itself a week after the update but I have noticed the onscreen time drastically reduced in recent times.

Have experienced the same with your phone? And did you fix it?

I'm not looking to upgrade just yet as my current S6 is suffient for my needs. But if the drain issue continues then I may have to rethink.

Same here...ive been looking as well for a new phone because of this....i have done a factory reset and it seems to be lasting a lot longer but still no where near what it used to be like.

I did initially, turned out to be the Chrome sync background task.
Check your background sync things aren't stuck.
Settings > Cloud and accounts > accounts > Google

I had a sync stuck, so I turned it off because it wasn't important. I'll see if that helps. Thanks.

I can't help but think this is a subtle reminder to get us to upgrade phones even though mine was perfectly fine before the update. :(
The problem with upgrading for me is that I don't like the 18:9 ratio phones, so my choices are very limited since all manufacturers are catching on this trend.

Sorting out the Google sync hasn't fixed the issue. Sadly.

I think the next step would be to look at a good battery case or maybe downgrading the firmware, if that is possible.

Try clearing the system cache, usually sorts it out. Or in an extreme case, factory reset, for some reason with Samsung's phones at least after a major OS update you need to do this to get it to run smoothly again.

Whenever I've had a battery problem with my samsungs it's turned out to be a problem with my sdcard

I clean the system cache once in a while, that hasn't made a difference. I think the next option would be a factory reset, as I am running out of options and battery. Lol.
