Where have the RX VEGA 56 cards gone from OCUK?

Raja took them with him to Intel.

Yeah Raja messed up Vega disastrous launch, not surprised AMD now stopped made Vega 56 and Vega 64 reference, Limited Edition and Liquid Cooled cards anymore just 3 months after launch to cutback losses due to Vega 10 huge die size, very expensive HBM2 memory and discounts rebates so now AMD supply Vega 10 chips and HBM2 to AIB partners to build more expensive fugly custom Vega 56 and Vega 64 cards. Nvidia still made Founder Edition cards and made money from their online store.

3 months after Vega launch, AMD AIB marketshare fell to 27.2% while Nvidia gained 72.8% in Q3 2017, AMD would had shipped very few Vega cards compared to Fury cards in first 3 months back in 2015. I suppose Q4 will see AMD marketshare fall further with no more cheap Vega 56 and 64 reference cards anymore instead of £500+ custom Vega 56 and £600+ custom Vega 64 cards. Nvidia made very smart move with GTX 1070 Ti.

Do you how much these piddly gpus account for the share price. Not a lot. And I really wouldn't bank on the share price falling further than it already has that's not how it works. It's trader selling stock on the news that a big shot left the company and will blow over quickly.

It’s no surprise that vega went EOL so quickly but to be fair I didn’t expect quite so soon. Does reflect what a mess AMD made of this product.

The pricing seems awfully high for the few AIB partners brave enough to take it on.

I think ASUS kinda lost the plot with their pricing :P

They were like "okay so it's faster than a 1080 but slower than a 1080ti, lets price it directly between the two" - No Asus that's not how it works lmao.

On the plus side at least we know all the other cards are going to be cheaper than the Strix cos no Asus tax XD

Its gone AIB. Not EOL. And Gibbo sold them cheap to clear stocks. Thats it.

Oppp my mistake, I mean marketshare not share. Now corrected it.

It's funny that actually Vega is good enough for mining.

There was a fair bit of cold water poured on the idea a while back and yet off the 56's go into the farms.

No it’s gone EOL. That’s why it was sold off cheap! It’s no longer economical for them to make it in this fashion. Do you honestly think AMD have stopped supplying it because it’s a roaring success and they can’t keep up with demand? It’s been dropped like a hot potato so they can focus on Navi.

Do you think AMD planned to launch vega and then cut it after a couple of months?

AMD will either make reduced losses or even a little profit by selling to third parties who can couple it with a better cooler and sell it for a higher price.

LOL They aren't gone EOL. It's the same thing they did with the 290 cards, stopped making the reference ones once the AIB's started making custom cards.

The reference cards have gone EOL. There’s not much more I can say on the matter even gibbo confirmed that.

In fairness the cold water was due to it's lacklustre Ethereum performance (for it's power usage). At that time nobody expected it to pull insane numbers in another algo and end up becoming the best mining card going.

You seem to be confused, Vega hasn't gone EOL, the reference models have gone EOL because the AIB models are arriving so there's no point continuing to produce reference models.

Do you honestly think AMD have stopped supplying it because it’s a roaring success and they can’t keep up with demand?
No it's because they stop making the reference model of cards once AIBs arrive, this has pretty much been their mantra for like a decade now (NB: It doesn't mean AIBs can't continue to make reference cards if they so wish).

Do you think AMD planned to launch vega and then cut it after a couple of months?
Of course, as above.

I bet they're pushing Navi through as fast as they can at the moment.

I doubt that as it would damage the Vega sales (sort of how the announcement of the Sega Dreamcast killed the Saturn just as it was pulling ahead of the N64). They will probably wait until Vega starts to run out of stream before announcing details on Navi.

I hope so. AMD have done such a poor job on Vega (the launch, the price, the performance, the availability) I'm wondering if I can wait out yet another generation and wait for Navi to arrive.

I'm not expecting any sort of announcement but it won't be a surprise if it turns up in the second or third quarter of 2018, Due to whatever issues they've had getting Vega out the door and how slow they've been getting them to the AIB's I was thinking Navi would get a late 2019 release initially, Also it wouldn't be a surprise if they give HBM a miss, In truth it isn't exactly bringing any sort of advantage to the table and with GDDR6 due why not? If they're really struggling with getting everything on die they should cut there losses and get Polaris replaced with a Navi based GDDR5/x/6 card and keep HBM for the professional cards, So far HBM's done nothing but hold them back.
