Star Wars Battlefront 2 Benchmarks

It has NVIDIA specific tech, PCSS and HFTS shadows. Also NVIDIA posts marketing materials about it on their site and facebook/twitter pages.

OK fair enough. Just because Nvidia post on Facebook etc doesn't make it a sponsored title. AMD have been tweeting a lot about Destiny 2 and that was a Nvidia title.

Star Wars Battefront 2: PCSS and HFTS implemented
In addition to the "Ultra" shadows Star Wars Battlefront 2 also offers two advanced filtering techniques, which originate from Nvidia: PCSS and HFTS. The latter, as with Watch Dogs 2 and The Division , is only available on Geforce graphics cards (and currently flawed), PCSS can also be enabled on AMD GPUs, allowing for performance comparison. The optical result is closer to reality than that of the Ultra Shadows, as the latter draw relatively sharp edges, while PCSS clearly scatters the shadows of distant objects. In low resolutions like Full HD, however, dithering artefacts ("crumbs") are unpleasant. From WQHD PCSS looks good, in Ultra HD even very good.

I am sure he never said NVidia sponsored and said Gameworks Title, for which he is quite correct. Not sure why you go off on one at times but getting silly now.

Stock R9 290 under water with a Samsung C27HG70 running FreeSync ultimate engine 48-144Hz. 1440P, DX12 mode, graphics quality on high.
Running arcade mode I get 60FPS for the most part, with some dips below 48FPS, but brief and nothing that really distracts from the game.
FreeSync seems to be doing its job and the game is very playable. Amazing to think I can get a bit more life out of this old card and I have not even over clocked it yet.

290's, what great cards they were/are

Just needs a good Freesync screen (which you have!). Clocking it might help keep you above that magic 48fps mark! :)

Played good amount last night really enjoying it. Performance with Vega ultra at 1440p is excellent.
Game is so smooth with my GPU pegged at 100% all the time.

LFC will kick in when you drop to 47FPS and lower.

Some Star Wars Battlefront 2 benchmarks with the new Crimson 17.11.2 drivers.

Tip for Vega users, if you enable 16GB of High Bandwidth Cache you can boost the 4K FPS from 59.8 to 65.3. :)

Someone made the point in the comments for that video (I think it was that one) that the 1080 he's using for the tests is one of the older ones with the slower VRAM, so the newer 1080s might gain a little performance. I guess along with that is the fact that they all reference cards so AIB cards should perform better for all cards.

If I was running Nvidia I wouldn't be interested in tying the Gameworks title to games anymore, Because of the bad name Gameworks earned itself they're better off just having the tech used without the fanfare, That way they get the advantage of offering more features without the negativity tied to the Gameworks branding.

Given all the controversy this game has generated I would be surprised if either AMD or Nvidia would want touch future Battlefield games with a barge poll.
