As an uneducated Northern monkey who needs to make a trip down south I am struggling to find definitive answers to this......

I have sold my old 5th wheel (articulated caravan) to a guy in Hampstead,
He's going to pay for me to drive it down, my time/fuel/LEZ costs if applicable but I cant figure out what it's going to cost :/

So far I've found this...

"Larger vans, motorised horseboxes, 4x4 light utility vehicles, pick-ups, other specialist vehicles 1.205 tonnes unladen or more £100"

There is also this....

"Lorries, goods vehicles, motor caravans, motorised horseboxes, breakdown and recovery vehicles, snow ploughs, gritters, refuse collection vehicles, road sweepers, concrete mixers, tippers, fire engines, removals lorries, other specialist vehicles More than 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight £200"

My vehicle is a Dodge ram pickup (4100kg kerb weight) and the 5th wheel is 7250kg, total weight roughly 11350kg.

It's not a 'Lorrie' a goods vehicle or a motor caravan, so what is it?

heelp o.O

As an example

You said your vehicle:
  • runs on diesel
  • weighs over 3.5 tonnes GVW
  • was registered as new on or after 1 October 2006
TfL classifies your vehicle as a lorry or heavy specialist vehicle for LEZ purposes.

Hey guys thanks for the replies, expensive job!

Why does it weigh 4100kg out of curiosity? Quick bit of Googling puts these at between 2.5 and 3t depending on spec?

It's a 2013 3500HD 8 foot bed megacab with the 6.7 cummins and an aftermarket 10 speed manual transmission. (We used to regularly pull 20000lb on a triple axle trailer in the US cross country)
The weight was a guess tbh, manual says 6770lb dry kerbweight which is just under 3.1t.
The tranny is double the weight of the stock one, it has a 60 gallon extended tank, and another 110gallon bed tank(US gallons). it also has the 5th wheel fittings.

Looks like fun getting it there too, apparently the area its going to (NW3) nothing over 5tonne is allowed from 9am-6pm.

Funny just yesterday I was watching a video of police chasing a Ford F series (can't remember which one) and the commentator was going on and on about how it was like the highest end one capable of towing 18000lb!!!! which was like "totally amazing".

Not sure why there, the handbook says it's rated in the US for towing 35,000lb, vehicle gvw is 14,000lb. (edited as I put the 2500 by mistake)

It's probably the Ford Powerturd engine :p

FYI I paid it online, taking it down Friday, £200 to enter le zone :/

As is usual the case the commentators on those police pursuits in the US are clueless - was kind of funny to see references to the towing ability in lbs of those vehicles twice so close together though.
