Holiday destinations for singles

Vietnam is nice. Eat cheap tasty food, drink cheap beer, ride motorbikes around. Stay in the cheap hostels, meet lots of other travellers to go drinking with and to do other things with ;)

Seems to be a whole host of places just as cheap, cleaner and without the fear of ending up on the 3rd world version of death row if someone takes a disliking to you.

I’ve actually been to Vietnam, it’s just not a place I’d go as a single person, especially in my younger days when I’d get black out drunk. I’m pleased you’ve taken my post so seriously though, I didn’t think anyone would take it literally.

Maybe I'm just boring but I've zero interest in visiting Vietnam ever - same really with Thailand, etc. whatever the draw is for some is completely lost on me.

I never before either but after a few travel blogs, and speaking to people who have been, they all say it is a surprise and somewhere they would go again.

Vietnam is a great country, so many epic things to see, I have never been to Thailand though.

Why do a lot of single guys going to Thailand?.....Well the 3 or 4 I know, go for prostitution. So if that is your boat, thats the country to float it.

Both countries are amazing and I put Cambodia on a par as well. Thailand has it's seedy side but this is easily avoided beyond that some of the sites and scenery in the country is jaw dropping and it is relatively clean and safe. Vietnam particularly the north feels very similar and the scenery is amazing not sure I'd fancy the motor cycle tour I suspect the reality is a little different to top gear! Great to visit a country with no McDonald's or Starbucks though! Cambodia is possibly my favourite ever destination such a beautiful place although tinged with sadness from it's recent history the people are lovely the sites awesome (ankor wat at sunrise!) and the combination of French bread and south East Asian cuisine is epic!

I agree Ibiza is a wonderful place to visit whether you goal is to party, explore or relax. There is however not a lot going on there at this time of year. The tourist industry pretty much closes down till at least Easter and the partying side till May.

Was a bit vague in the first post exactly when he was taking the holiday.

Ibiza is terrible for partying unless you are in a group. All the activities all the bars clubs etc.. are geared towards big groups. Some bars won't even let you in unless there is a bunch of you. Others will want you to spend at least €15.

Budapest is a good one for a few days. The Art Cinema hostel. They have a daily-ish pub crawl run by local students for tips. Makes it easy to meet people and have a good.

Croatia is another good one if you are good at making friends. Split, or if you are seriously wanting to party then Pag.

Tel Aviv is good, but perhaps more difficult to make friends. Super laid back atmosphere though, great history in Jaffa, nice bars, and beautiful women. There is some ok surfing there too, and plenty of day tours you could take.

Portugal splitting it between the cities and the beach could be interesting. Again, great people, and super cheap compared to most of western Europe.

my friends and I joined one of these part way round... unintentionally at first we just happened to be in the same bar as them with some Hungarian girls we know, then when we moved to the next bar the pub-crawl arrived again and we ended up joining them for the night

as we'd gatecrashed the thing we didn't need to tip the local girl running it... well my friend gave her a "tip" later on that night... and then in the morning, when he went to have a shower the other friend he was sharing the room with gave her a tip too...

they'd both been trying to get with her all night and our Hungarian friends were adamant that "Hungarian girls are not like that!" clearly the ones running the pub crawls have been westernised!

Which is the best of the canary islands to go out of interest? I have only been to gran canaria something like 10 or 12 years ago.
