A GTX 1060 or AMD RX 580 would give a big performance gain. One thing I do notice is that 72 degrees seem rather warm for a stock 2700k. Maybe buy a decent cooler as well to drop your temps and allow for that 2700k to be overclocked. Most will hit 4.5Ghz easily enough.

Appears the AMD hypeman has appeared. Every review states that within possible error % the 1060 and 580 are more or less equal depending on game, however the 1060 I've specced is both cheaper, will draw less power, and thus run cooler. The cheaper price even allows the user to pick up a cooler for their CPU which seems to be running incredibly hot, to allow them to overclock and increase performance even further.

Let alone the fact that card is possibly the ugliest colour I've ever seen on a GFX card.

The card comes with a gift:
AMD Promotion: Quake Champions PC Game
Quake Champions Pack worth $40 (in game voucher). This includes ALL Champions during the Early Access. These Champions will remain in a player's arsenal perpetually

Sky blue colour is not ugly

Based on the award-winning SPPHIRE NITRO+ RX 580 design, the SAPPHIRE NITRO+ RX 580 Special Edition has been factory overclocked at 1430 MHz boost engine with 8.4 GHz effective memory. Complementing the SAPPHIRE NITRO Gear custom backplate and shroud accessory family, the NITRO+ RX 580 Special Edition features a stunning metallic blue shroud and backplate lit up by a blue LED fan. Designed for quiet and powerful performance, the SAPPHIRE NITRO+ RX 580 Special Edition delivers to gamers the optimal1440p gaming experience.

The gift is a bit weird though, the game is free to play right so you're basically just getting the DLC for free that not everyone wants or will use. Still getting it for free is never a bad thing but it's not quite the same as getting a whole free game unfortunately.

The fact the 2700k is running hot is probably down to two things.

One is case cooling and I you would probably benefit from a couple of case fans. Look at the bundle deals for the Alpenfohn twin pack for under £5.

Secondly, a lesson I learnt is to take a vacuum cleaner and clear out your case with special attention to your cooler fans and CPU cooler. Dropped my temps by about 25C by sucking up the dust from the cooler.

As for the AMD/Nvidia, personally I would take the RX580 but it depends on the games you play.

Just check out some reviews showing which performs better at those and make the call. That being said, with the price differential being about 15%, I would probably take the Nvidia.

If you do go for the RX 580, don't pay 300 quid for it. This one will do all the same stuff and also comes with the quake thing.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £249.89 (includes shipping: £9.90)

But for me it really is a toss up between that and the gtx 1060 6gb, only real reason to favour one over the other is if you have a gsync or freesync monitor. Other wise just go with which ever you can get cheaper on the day.

Do you hint there are some problems with PowerColor such as higher defect rate or something which isn't covered by the warranty.
I've had several PowerColor cards in the past and never had any issues, however I don't believe warranty claims etc are quite as easy to deal with compared to some of the other manufacturers.

You are obliged to at least support your hatred with something reasons.
Like you are obliged to support your love of AMD cards? - give it a rest with the obvious bias please.

Any reason you didn't spec that card though? You must've already been looking at the price of 580's, and admittedly I wasn't and didn't realise they were currently going for so cheap either. Such a low price makes it a harder choice, probably worth the OP deciding what games they plays the most and checking the fps each card gives on that specific game to decide.

Colour is spelt with a U not color - my main big bear .
Mainly RMA though, buying from OCUK helps, but I like my customer service to be UK based, and repair center to be based here. I like the option to by pass the reseller or if I don't agree with their RMA testing verdict go straight to the manufacturer. I like to be able to get a hold of reps that don't reply like a bot with a link to an email :)
Not to say they are like that , could be different . I cringe when someone buys Zotac other when OCUK. I have trade account with zotac distributor , they went bankrupt and taken over, yet zotac website say that company still deals with RMA with zotac UK. Ask zotac directly and they just say send it to company ... Company says they deal with RMA and ship it off to Hong Kong for me... ;(
But that's getting side tracked and nothing to reflect ocuk :)

Because of the factory overclock. It is important because there are cards which don't overclock at all, or overclock very tiny bit. I suspect the particular card gets better binned Polaris 10 chips.

my aorus XTR's had factory overclock of 1439 , think i had it running 1490 with OC :D
chips arent binned from amd, just the better ones they get went into that model - that and the cooling and VRM plays a good part . again like the nitro uses 8+6 power pin, but these can be a pain with wattman or were, not sure now
