Wow!

"Slobodan Praljak, 72, yelled "I am not a war criminal!" and appeared to drink from a small bottle, seconds after judges reconfirmed his 20-year prison sentence for his involvement in a campaign to drive Muslims out of Bosnia in the early 1990s."

How was he allowed to smuggle what he says is poison into the court rooms, surely he is thoroughly searched beforehand? Yes it is small but that is lacklustre security imo.

Indeed, what I want to know is how he managed to smuggle a bottle of poison in.

Even though it’s the cowards way out, good riddance to evil.
True that, doubt that citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina would be ecstatic knowing that their taxes pay for a war criminal's prison sentence.

I don't see the issue, maybe it should be an option for all war criminals. life imprisonment or death at your own hands.

they have luxury prison cells, it's probably bleach or some other cleaning product he's nicked from the cleaner and easily hidden among all his possessions etc.. in his prison suite/mini apartment

This. Cushy little number being held prisoner at the Hague. What a theatre.

Took the cowards way out.

Do you think that having a 72 year old in a jail for probably life is beneficial to someone.

It's pretty worthless all round.

On the other hand killing himself improves the situation for everyone whether he's guilty or not.

Except whoever didn't search him but that's small beans.

Shouldn’t laugh but lol at the judge at 1:10, never seen someone look so surprised, confused and panicked all at the same time!

It was a small amount, must be more potent than a normal cleaning product.

The situation seems to have sort itself out. I am no fan of the death sentence but would not object to a war criminal trying to off himself instead of going to prison, a place where there are likely a few people who share his extreme views.

Looking at the rooms they are kept "prisoner" in, maybe I should consider being a war criminal for my retirement. Better than a retirement home, best medical care, free living.

Also whats with them asking him to "please do this and that", like he's there by choice.

Yep, if you have to go to prison, the Hague's the place to do it.
