Boiler Quote - Reasonable?

Need a new boiler and power flush ASAP. We've built an extension on the house and replaced all but 3 radiators. All the sludge has accumulated in several pipes blocking the radiators downstairs. I was planning to replace the boiler in the new year but it's on it's last legs now (20+ year old Prima F 30000 BTU/9kW).

I've gone through several quotes and think I'm going with a local guy who has done work for some of the neighbours and has been in business for 30 odd years.

Remedial Work: Remove old boiler and dispose of
Powerflush heating system.
Boiler: Supply and fit a Worcester Bosch 15Ri in the same location.
Flue: Fit a horizontal flue using the same hole.
Gas supply: Connect existing supply to new boiler. Test gas.
Does not include running a larger gas pipe which almost certainly won’t be necessary anyway.
Condensate: Run condensate pipe from boiler to a suitable drain
Pipework: Fit a magnetic heating system filter.
Pump: Use existing.
Controls: Fit a new Honeywell mid position valve. All other existing controls will be used.
Ventilation: None required.
Insulation/frost protection: Not required.
Electrics: Wire in new boiler to existing power supply.
Radiator valves: Thermostats can be fitted if required but are not covered in this quote.
Completion: Fill heating system adding a corrosion inhibitor. Test system and commission boiler.
Paperwork: Complete boiler logbook and guarantee forms. Notify Gas Safe and local building control of the new installation.
Handover: Demonstrate system controls as necessary. Give all literature and forms to you.
Guarantee: Boiler currently comes with a five year manufacturers guarantee, upgraded to six years as their filter will be fitted. Their terms and conditions apply. The main condition is that the boiler is serviced within every 12 month period.
Price: £2178.00 including vat

Does this seem reasonable? I had a quote from a plumber I used on the pipework of the extension we built and he quoted much the same except with a Vaillant boiler but no power flush for £1735.

I think that's a good price tbh.

May dad's having a whole new system and it's a lot more than that..Almost double. new boiler, tank, pump, rad fitting, smart therm, piping etc etc..

You can't skimp on something like this tbh.

New Boilers need a 22mm gas supply from the gas metre to the boiler within 1 metre, does your have this ?

They don't need a 22mm supply, it's not a regulated requirement, but when the installer removes the old boiler, he will perform a test to ensure there is a sufficient flow of gas to the boiler and other gas appliances. If not then a new pipe will need to be run. Combi's need 22mm but this is a heat only boiler that is powering ~13kW of heat plus a hob. However, 15-18kW is the limit at which you can use 15mm pipe from the meter.

good reply.

yes that's a very reasonable quote imho :)

Doesnt seem too bad, boiler is about £800 give or take, plus a flue kit hes charging about £1000 to fit, about the same as i paid.

I had an entire central heating system fitted for not much more than two grand. Combi boiler, copper piping and radiators, the lot. It was a long time ago though.

I guess your quote seems about what I'd expect for today's prices.

With out more detail you can't compare the two, it's like me saying just my boiler cost that which isn't far off.

Well we just had 9 rads replaced (imperial to metric sized) and some drop pipes chased into the wall, this came to £1200. Not including the cost of the radiators or plasterer.

Sounds pretty good to me.

Up north we got a whole new boiler and central heating system installed in a 2 bed flat for £2500 though, so it depends on urgency. Pretty busy time of the year for these chaps, and they can pick and choose/charge what they need to make the most of the work.

Suppose that depends on how many pipes were chased.

Well I did the chasing, all plumber had to do was put the pipe in and we had someone to make the plasterwork good. 2 feeds and 2 returns for 2 rads. Wasn't a planned job so needed someone in quick to complete the work.

How deep were the pipes chased and did they insulate them?

Insulated yes, and about 5mm behind the surface plaster ( plasterer had to fill out the area to completely cover them without disturbing them.)
