Teenager told byMcDonalds to remove her hijab because it posed a "security threat"A woman has critic

Go on, use the word Xenophobe, you'll get that warm feeling inside and brownie points from the fellow appeasement brigade

The point was not really about being xenophobic but your hypocrisy in your statement that you could not possibly comprehend what she thinks, while assuming what she thinks.

Also FishFluffs point was that she made no indication as to whether women (her or others) should have to dress modestly.

If your culture tells you that you should cover your head to dress modestly, and you are brought up with those very conservative views, then what could you possibly think of Western Women who go out with low cut tops and short skirts? It's basically the complete opposite of how you've been brought up. You're not going to have a lot of respect for them realistically.

This isn't directed at this woman specifically, I don't know or care what she thinks, but those sorts of views don't seem overly compatible with western liberal values

I was putting you straight about you assuming I was sensitive. Surely it wasn't that hard to comprehend?

This was very hard to comprehend:

The title is what made me not want to read because quite frankly pathetic how society treats peoples for expressing their culture then justification for this is a "security thread" give it a rest for **** sake.

That sentence makes literally no sense.

Man on Internet claims to understand what women of a different culture are thinking.

I think it's implied that if you choose to describe covering your head as dressing modestly, then the opposite (not covering your head) is in fact not dressing modestly.

My views are that if you are covering your face and you live in a Western country then you have zero intent on integrating into the local culture. I have no problems with someone covering their head as the woman did, and I would actually intervene to defend her right to do that.

Well if the shoe fits and all that jazz ;).

Looks like you really can't imagine how they could think...

Just because you feel that wearing it gives you a level of modesty, it does not mean that you think women should have to dress as such if they do not wish it, if they wish to have respect or if they do not believe in it.

Do you go on holiday to foreign beaches and think that all the topless girls getting a suntan are putting them out on display to look slutty? No, it is just more culturally acceptable in some other countries to go around topless compared to ours and we accept that as such.

You don't know what she thinks as you say, but you also assume to know what she thinks...

Let me elaborate. My first message said I couldn't be bothered to read this trash, too many people are sensitive. Correct?

You then went on to assume I was sensitive because I stated I didn't want to read it. The reason I couldn't be bothered to read it all was not because I'm sensitive, it's for the simple fact that asking someone to remove a garment of clothing (a hat cover the top part of their head nothing else) which symbolises their beliefs and culture because of a "security threat" is ridiculous. Do they think she has some C4 strapped to her scalp because she is Arabic? ffs

Is that better for you?

Yes.

It was a joke, not an assumption, but let's press on.

Ah, OK, I see which side you're coming down on now. It was honestly hard to tell before.

Yes, as the sentences you have written are in comprehensible English this time around.

Man on Internet claims to understand what women of a different culture are thinking.

It's really remarkable how you have so much time you to post so much crap and disagree with 99% of the rest this forum considering you proclaim to have a wife and children. I'm surprised your wife hasn't left you yet with the amount of time you spend on here, are your children alienated from you?

You come across like the bloke in the pub with no friends and always has to be right about everything and the guy you always stand away from.

Dude, we're all here arguing on the same Internet forum. It's not like anyone gets to claim to be cooler than anyone else here.

Yes.

Aren't jokes supposed to be funny though?

I was tired it was late when I wrote that, and it doesn't take much to understand what I said but you are just being pedantic.

Anyway, good day to you.

It's nothing to do with about being cooler than anyone, it's just your attitude and aura in general, most of the time it's deplorable. No offence.

So reading the Daily Fail and it's claimed Maccy D's apologised but she's said that's not enough?

what does she want? A life time of free McNuggets?

When did France ban the headscarf?

What are you jabbering on about now? France has not banned wearing of the Hijab at all.

They are banned in government run schools, working for the government or in any public institution.

I'm not saying this woman does hold that view, it's not a personal attack on this girl, but some people brought up with those same cultural views definitely could view Western women as basically being a bit slutty. This is the problem I have with describing covering your head as dressing modestly.

I think it'd be pretty stupid to assume a girl getting a sun tan is being slutty. But I don't hold any sort of deep religious views that are intrinsically part of my cultural being so it's not really the same.

I don't think most security guards employed by McDonalds really have ANY CLUE WHATSOEVER about security.

Security is an illusion, the best you get are big strong bouncers who love to headbutt people, they keep all the obvious angry drunks and crackheads out.

Religous symbols including Muslim headscarves, Jewish skullcaps and large Christian crosses are banned from Government run institutions in France.

That's not specifically against Muslims. That's just separating the state and religion.

BBC article said:
"I live down the street," she adds. "This is a hate crime."

She told the BBC: "You would expect someone of colour to be more sympathetic to a minority that is persecuted.

"That just reflects how current this issue is - almost anyone could actually believe that I am a security threat."
lolwut?!

No crime has been committed.
She is stating that skin colour is a factor in someone's ability to show sympathy.
She is a British Muslim and claims 'persecution'.

I was going to say "I despair" but then I read that she's also a student....
