What would you buy, if you wanted a nice comfortable, but capable car sort of vehicle?

I'm thinking AWD, not too silly power wise, but more than 250.
Not 6000 SUX gas milage.
But probably won't be doing THAT many miles in it, so don't need diesel-esque economy, but at least 400 to a tank would be nice.

Probably a Mercedes-AMG C43 (in whichever body style you prefer). Got to have the optional performance exhaust, though. You'll just about get 400 miles to the tank - if you average around 25-30mpg.

I'd buy the new version of what I currently have, so a G30 530d M Sport.

Do I get most boring post of the thread award?
You'd honestly take a 530d over a 540i?

I'd take an F80 M3 with Competition Pack. No idea if that'll get 400 to a tank. If not, M550d xDrive :p

An 18-24 month BMW with either a 3.0 petrol or diesel with Xdrive. Fast and very capable nice cars. Probably a bit short of the 50k budget though.

Or be daring, get the crazy Alfa, seen them as low as 50k now about a year old, problem is depreciation is an issue for you, they could lose another 10k quite quickly maybe.

Wait maybe to see if the M2 CS gets announced/released early next year? If true is supposed to be a more bespoke M car and not just a tarted up tuned 2 series. ;)

Though I should say the current M2 looks awesome and is a superb car. :)

The issue with the m2 is the interior, minus some very small changes is straight from the 1 series. It sucks.
i agree the interior is a bit bland for an M car but I don't know if that would worry me.. over-all I think it'd be a very capable car.
