Ok, next Wednesday we're off down to London for 3 nights for our anniversary.

We seem to want to do quite a few things and i'm not sure the best way to fit them in/group them together based on travel time. Here's where i'm hoping you lot come in!

Here's the current plan.

We get into Euston around half 2 i think and our hotel is in Russell Square which seems to be around Fitzrovia.

I've booked us to go and see Wicked on the Wednesday night which is at the Apollo Theatre so thats the Wednesday night booked up. I've also made a bit of a balls up and ended up going from one high view place (the Shard), to another (the London eye), which are both quite close together location wise but spread out time wise which doesn't give much space either side.

Our meal plans for the Friday are in Kings Cross, we'd probably prefer to go there from the Hotel after a shower etc though rather than from where-ever else we've been in the day.

I'd planned on the London Zoo on the Saturday prior to coming home but that can be scrapped if need be.

Things we'd like to do

Christmas Markets at Hyde Park - Figure thats a decent place to go after checking in for some food prior to the show. There's also a wine shop nearby (Hedonism) which i'd like to get to if possible.

Borough Market - This is a bit of a poor planning thing really as we have afternoon tea at the Shard so don't really want to eat before/after, yet doesn't make much sense going back to the area any other time. Thoughts?

Stroll along the Southbank - Can do this between the Shard/London Eye, will it be ok during the day? Is it best going after the London eye when it's more evening time?

Stroll around Camden/Brick lane at the tat shops. There's also Rough Trade records on Brick Lane i'd like to go to.

We're not overly museum-y people. I did find a Champagne bar overlooking St Pauls though which sounds nice :p

I did quite fancy the London Dungeons but there's a similar place in Blackpool and i imagine they're similar experiences.

Any recommendations or things we have to see would be good. We've both been to London before with work/visiting friends but not for a few days as tourists.

Other than that i'm pretty open. The only caveat is my wife has an illness which means she gets tired easily so really in a position to rush around everywhere from morning to night. If we miss stuff then so be it, there are other times.

Camden/Brick lane

Pick one, don't do both. With Brick Lane you're near Spitalfields which is worth a visit and also near the infamous white goat statue that was prominent at a GD London meet many years ago. My office overlooks it :)

EDIT - ignore POB. You'll enjoy Wicked unless you're very picky and don't enjoy musicals.

Afternoon tea starts at 13.30? That's clearly lunch then. :D

It's in the afternoon! Plus i'm Northern, it's called Dinner:p

Don't watch Wicked its horrible. Most expensive nap I've ever had.

Sadly, the wife has wanted to see it for years. I've given in for this. Fortunately i did talk her out of wanting to go to the Harry Potter tour which would've wasted a day.

I will wave around at the offices for you then! Brick Lane it is, that's where Rough Trade is!

I do not like musicals :(

Harry Potter tour would've been better than Wicked, especially at this time of year.

Cancel Wicked and go see a classic like Phantom, Les Mis etc.

It'd be a full day pretty much though that i'd much rather spend doing something else. I get discounts at Chamneys spa's and there's one very close to the HP studio, so have promised we can have a spa weekend and go around March time.

She wants Wicked, has talked about it for years. I'll just nap :)

Yup there's one up the road in Tring, probs a 30 min drive or so from HP studios.

you can combine that with say Camden market as they're pretty close

as another poster pointed out Brick Lane and Camden however aren't close to each other, I'm not sure if you were implying that you wanted to do both of them together

Some other alternatives to the Shard (if you've not booked yet) are the Heron Tower and the Walkie Talkie building (which has a big winter garden at the top and is open to the public just to visit and take a look rather than use the restaurants/bars - you still have to book IIRC but it is free as opposed to the Shard.)

The Heron Tower is close to Brick lane, Spitalfields etc... so could be combined with those

also just a slightly cheesy/gimmicky thing if you're in that part of the city - go into the breakfast club cafe on Artillery Lane and ask to see the Mayor... you'll be taken to a smeg fridge which is actually a "secret" doorway to a speakeasy style bar in the basement - the exit to the bar is "secret" exit by the toilets. (it isn't really all that secret at all in reality but it might be something fun to do/grab a drink if you're going to be int hat area anyway)

Harry Potter tour is for small children not adults.

nonsense!!!!

I enjoyed the Potter tour.

I know with London you have to prebook a lot of stuff but is there any need for scheduling everything down to the hour :p
