Asus Maximus X Formula z370 release date and price

about bloody time

Same as the formula minus the watercooling and fancy LCD ROG display

for me z370 is a just a stop gap so dont want to spend too much money on it thats why i went with the Code when normally i am a Formula/Extreme man

it cost me £350 so formula could be up to £380-400+

Oooooh very nice, you've done well to get one so soon.

Info and images are starting to all pop up here and there in the UK now, so i think its just a case of any day and it'll be several places to buy/order.

It's a lovely board but with so many other boards reportedly reaching high VRM temps when pushing them and the fact i want this build to be custom looped, i kind of have my heart set on the formula, the code is identical in almost every other way as you say, and its gorgeous.

I know people are going to state i can buy a hero and whack a monoblock on it, but its not the same, the hero (in my eyes) looks nowhere near as aesthetically pleasing with the back and front armor and larger more streamlined chipset heatsink. I know the VRMs and cooling will be decent on either board but id feel a bit better with them under water.

I would anticipate that maybe z390 chips will fit and be also supported by Z370 boards, going by intels 2 generations per socket and the fuss kicked up with z270 to z370, i cant see them changing it again within less than a year unless they want bad press. I'd call z370 more socket 1151 v2 and there will be another generation to come and be supported. The pin array now supports the extra power delivery needed for extra cores as some pins on z270 were reserved.

Let me know hoe it performs :-)

Where did you buy the Code? That's the one I've been waiting for.

It's listed up on Pricespy UK, available to purchase. Just bought a Formula from there after 2 months of solid waiting :D
(not sure I can name the actual retailer myself)

I saw them listed on pricespy alright, but I want to know what exact retailer he bought from.

Going through pricespy, the first retailer seem to have two listed. A Maximus X Code Z370 and a Maximus X Code Z270 (the Z270 is listed as being more expensive). Which I thought was very odd so I avoided them. I thought they might have mixed it up with the Maximus IX, but they have that listed separately. They also list both of them as In Stock, but they both have lead times of a couple of days before dispatch so that would lead me to believe that they're not actually in stock, but on back order or something.

The second retailer have the Code, but I've never heard of them. According to pricespy they're actually based in Germany. Again it says there's a lead time of at least 2 days before dispatch

EDIT: Just had a word with customer support from the first retailer. Apparently the cheaper one labelled Z370, is from European stock. And the more expensive one labelled Z270 is from UK stock, and it's just labelled incorrectly.

EDIT2: Seeing as all these sites say theres a lead time of 2 days. That would lead me to believe they're all receiving stock on December 8th? So maybe OCUK will have them listed on that day?

Going through pricespy, [bleep] seem to have two listed. A Maximus X Code Z370 for £323, and a Maximus X Code Z270 for £369. Which I thought was very odd so I avoided them. [Bleep] have the Code for £339, but I've never heard of them. According to pricespy they're actually based in Germany. Again it says there's a lead time of at least 2 days before dispatch

I understand your concerns about the two separate listings on [bleep]. There's nothing to fear though, I have a good relationship with that company.

The same thing happened with two X Formula listings, and it was explained to me that they are the same product (in your case, both Maximus X Code) but the only difference is the suppliers; they are both abroad from the UK and these said suppliers DO have the stock. Different suppliers sometimes means different bits of information is supplied with it, and their system recognized it as two different listings even though they are the exact same item. I hope that makes sense.

My X Formula from [bleep] is currently being shipped to their warehouse to then be shipped to me. Expecting delivery early next week. If you have any more questions dude i'd be happy to answer. And no I don't work for or with [bleep] xD

Edit: juuust saw your edit and you basically summarised what I have said :p

if you had your trust set then i could have emailed you... dont want to list competitors even tho it seems they are more relaxed about it these days than back in day lol
anyway the place i got it from is based in the UK and they got it in stock on Monday and i ordered it before 3:30pm and it got delivered Tuesday

now on to the fun process of draining my loop and installing

I tried setting up trust but when I try log into the pop up screen it says my username is not found. Do you need a minimum number of posts before setting it up?

Just give me the first and last letters of the name. Does it start with L and end with a word that sounds like "Tech"? :p

Yeah I think they basically have the same features. The only thing I can really point out is that the X Code has a built in I/O shield, and the IX Code doesn't. (I think)

Other then that I think the only real difference is Coffee Lake.

They're up for pre-order but just how long are pre-orders going to be before they're in stock and ready to send exactly? That's what i now wanna know.

HI
I know, Formula are up for Pre-Order on OCUK NOW
on the website of the ASUS in the description of the mainboard is information that it has

''LiveDash OLED
Maximus X Formula is equipped with LiveDash, a built-in 1.3" OLED panel that displays useful information and customizable graphics. During the power-on, self-test (POST) phase, LiveDash shows key progress stats in simple language and via traditional POST codes. Then, during normal operation, the panel shows a choice of CPU frequency, device temperatures, fan speeds or information from the Water Cooling Zone.''

from photos on the OC store it follows that it does not have this add-on.
how is it really?
can anyone say something about it?
Thank you...

I think it does. That grey area in the middle with the ROG logo and name is the screen. I think that's just the default display on it.

Also consider the fact the board needs to be powered for the screen to work. They probably couldn't just attach a load of wires to it when taking the pictures for advertising. So it's probably a little template, or CGI'd in for advertising. Which is why it doesn't look exactly like it would in person.

That's what I think anyway. The OLED screen is one of the main features of the Formula, along with watercooling. Its definitely going to have it.

check out OC3Ds review you see the OLED screen in action

almost made me want to RMA my code and get it since its only £20 more

hmmmm ;)

It 110% has a small oled display. if you go to the main asus maximus formula x webpage (google it) and scroll down, it even has some pre made animated characters to download and install for the display, you can also make and design your own custom animations or leave as the standard ROG one (which is quite cool anyway).....its actually quite a handy display because it not only looks smart but it can post temps and system information as well as error/post codes on booting. The only issue i have is with the placement of it. The motherboard is designed and aimed at watercooling enthusiasts with an ek vrm block pre-installed, but that display sits right where you'd typically want your gpu pipework to come from your gpu blocks, this means its going to be difficult to put a custom loop inside your case without obscuring the oled displays view (some very well thought out tubing runs will be needed). It does definitely seem a bit of an afterthought from Asus.... but does it look smart?...... does it have high end components and decent vrms?..... and is the formula with that stunning armor still one of the greatest looking, most premium looking/feeling boards that money can buy? Hell Yes!!!! (the display is a bonus).

Ive got mine on pre-order now and its just a case of waiting until ocuk have them to send, i really hope this isn't too long as it seems theyre starting to get about a bit in the uk and ive been almost 2 months waiting on this board as it is.... Ive had an 8700k staring at me and begging me to use it whilst its been collecting dust..... This hasnt been easy at all, 2 or 3 times i nearly caved into buying either the hero, apex, taichi, or the gaming 7 but i managed to hold back each as i knew this was the one i really wanted. I also didnt want to waste cash on a monoblock for one board when a standard cpu block fits all, the vrm ek block helped me hold out and wait.

I don’t know what happened with OCUK on this round of Asus but seems like some other retailers (smaller ones) got some early stock. Strange ey but at least finally coming to you guys!

Ocuk actually had them a fraction of time before some of the main, most renowned online retailers did...its just the pre-orders took all that stock...i had notification of shipment and had mine a good few days now...i checked when i had notification and they had just 1 left in stock and that lasted about a further 20 mins from when i saw it to when it was gone and back to stating 'pre order' again...

I just want to say what a quality board it is, i was dubious about the pricing but the bios and warercooling features/ headers with that cool oled display is awesome...its a solid, heavy and very well built board that oozes quality from the packaging to the first looks and feels. I've waited the best part of 2 months for this board since returning an msi board with rgb fault and this has my cpu up an extra 100mhz at same vcore on air (not got my watwrcooling ordered and wont until new year now as short what with xmas etc)...i must also have a very good chip (8700k) as its stable at 1.25v manual at 5ghz! and also does 5.1ghz at 1.275v but the temps of the cpu are the limiting factor at tgis point having hit into the late 80s early 90s on stability testing, the vrms are never over 65 when pushed. Ive pulled it back to 5ghz but this speed on air with this board is absolutely amazing (cryorig h7)...i have a delid die mate 2 and conductonaut on order (been waiting 2 months for that also).I think with it under water and delidded with the vrms in the loop, this great boards gonna be close to getting 5.3ghz under 1.4v...i dont like going to 1.4, especially 24/7 use but ill do it for a quick bench, however i deffo think its going to be a good 24/7 5.2ghz if nothing else, may have to alter the avx offset to about 4 as anything that benches using it significantly damages the temps even if it does stay stable. Ive not messed with ram or manual memory overclocking as yet or altered/ touched any system agent voltages but i can say so far that this is the best board ive ever owned (and ive owned a lot).

Ok, I thought these were also late but for me I got the Apex a good month earlier than it ‘arrived’ in the UK.

Same result in my board/chip, delid is worth it and expect with monoblocks it will run at 60-70c max. Mine will bench [email protected] even with memory at 4,133. You should be comfortable 24/7 much less - I’m running 5.1 with an ‘over the top’ 1.3v which is ample. Amazing results really, very happy with the processor and the board is a dream even on the first BIOS (update soon when I have time).

Defo delid, took me 2 mins and a Stanley blade, liquid metal and done. -20c probably in a custom loop.
