I’ve just had new coving and a ceiling rose fitted however the plastic rose on my new ceiling light looks silly as it’s too big and covers the pattern on the plaster rose.

(This is the rose - http://www.plasterworld-uk.co.uk/ceiling_rose_range/a48.php)

I need a smaller diameter plastic rose but I’m struggling to find one. Has anyone come across such a thing or do you have any suggestions how to hang my light?

What is the diameter of the center of the rose?
i.e. what size is the largest you can fit and what type/style of light will you be using?

For that sort of feature I'd be wiring the light to a junction box in the ceiling and just running a cable through the centre.

I think that would look very odd,
and also how do you neatly make a hole in the ceiling for a cable to pass through ?

A sharp drill bit and a small white collar to stop the cable from wearing away the plastic.

The whole point for me is to not draw the eye to the lighting mount but instead the feature rose / hanging light.
