PS4 Pro or Xbox one S, for a Xmas gift. Not for me. Person has a 4k tv, beginner gamer. Which platform do co owners prefer? Would be nice if the system had other uses for entertainment etc. Xbox one X is too much ATM.

Any thoughts or opinions experiences welcomed.

If they have a pc for games go for a PS4..

i have xbox one s and ps4, i do find myself on the ps4 more but that is always down to
what game i have taken a shine to.

Edit.. i also find the ps4 menu a lot easier as well.

I would say go for the PS4 Pro as it play games in 4k the xbox one s does not, but it does have 4k blu ray player & the PS4 Pro doesn't. They both have HDR and netflix amazon prime apps etc.

PS4 Pro IMO - I have one, and an Xbox One, and the latter hardly gets turned on these days - maybe once or twice a month for Blu Ray duties prior to the PS4 Pro!

It's a huge can of worms the Sony vs MS question, but from experience, the PS4 has the better interface, better choice of games, and [IMO] better all round package.

Hope this helps

Agree with this.

As X1X is ruled out due to cost, the next best is now the PS4 Pro cost per available games per features and all round best value for money for performance and content.

Xbox One S +
MS exclusives
Cheaper live - at least in my experience
UHD player
Backwards compatibility

PS4 Pro +
More and arguably better exclusives (IMO they are)
More powerful so can game in better res etc

As always it comes down to the games that each system can offer, as well as which console friends/family own to be able to game online. The Pro Vs the S is a bit of a mismatch as far as the consoles graphical capability is concerned.
