Can some one point me to an 8700k build.

Chip. Board. Ram. SSD/nvm, monitor.

I want to build over Christmas, 8700k I've decided on.

Money little object but I'm not spending for no material in life gain....so most expensive board isnt important .

It will be used for gaming only really (already decided on 1080ti). Needs to last me 3+ years. Already have a massive case x9, but nothing else. Don't want to be messing with small form factor...full fat it fine!

Build me a cart and I'll buy asap.

Thanks guys.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,838.99 (includes shipping: £11.10)

I'm assuming you don't need a case or Windows?

Choose your cooler of choice and you'll be good to go. You could save on the storage by getting a SSD instead. Gigabyte chosen for UK RMA centre, but their stuff is good quality too. OEM CPU saves you a good deal over retail.

^^^^ up above, but would select 8 Pack 3209hz ram and run it 3800hz + and would ditch the Samsung Pro NVMe for standard SSD 1tb drive for all your games :) maybe 128GB NVMe for OS if you really wanted it

Got a bit more cash
Aorus 7 board for best on board audio and Aorus Xtreme for 4 year UK warranty along with the board, £40 steam voucher too

Aorus card does drive up the and makes the Black look good

Loving it guys. Thanks for helping. This time I just don't have the time to research so gonna trust my fellow forum members.

Tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM the price on 8700K Retail will go down to £349.99 until the one thousand chips with that price are sold out.

  • AsRock Extreme 4 board is excellent for ~£150 price range - very well reviewed and seen as best 'bang for buck'
  • Very fast SSD
  • IPS 165hz G-Sync monitor (go for TN if you want to save ££ and improve response times, but lose colour accuracy)
  • Fast 3200mhz RAM. The 8pack 3200mhz set is also on offer if you want slightly more extra performance (more flexibility for overclocking and reduced timings)

Go down to... Or they are finally reselling at recommended retail price :D
Still cracking price for OP

Million dollar question.

All monitors are ridiculously priced and it's like playing Russian roulette with QA. Probably just a decent cheap 1080p

Wait for the oled hdr desktops to come through.

I think OLED will be a while, HDR should come next year .
Only problem with hardware, waiting for something . Soon as it turns up other parts will be surprised and you'll cringe at your wallet ;(

ASRock any good? I've always had an Asus but thinking Gigabyte this time.

1000 chips arent gonna sell tyhat quick are they? Can't focus on buying until this arvo.

I wouldn't buy an nvme drive over a sata one unless you really want to save the space and cabling of sata drives.

Yeah AsRock do make some very good Z370 boards which are reviewed well. Also, Gibbo and 8pack often recommend them.

Main thing you lose versus Gigabyte is UK RMA, that's the only downside imo.

ASRock are solid , Asus look prettier but have pricing.
Gigabyte rep support is solid on here two which help. Just got my board back today after sending it off saturday (bypassed a useless Distributor)

Asrock make some of the fastest booting boards available, they’re great. I’ve had a couple and currently running a Z270 Supercarrier. It’s so quick and feature rich!
