Going to be fun at work today.

Ok sorry for the very late reply. We went into work and on the way there was little evidence of any travellers. Apparently the pub was trading as normal, a few small groups of them were in the pub sat in the bar area, drinking bottomless pepsi after sitting down for their meals, which they actually paid for. Behaving. The staff told me everything was fine. So an anticlimax if I ever saw one :(

Fair play to them really.

Why should they respect our laws when we are the ones trying to force our government laws onto them?
They are not governed by legislation like we are, they don't register their kids into society, and are governed by common law.

Because like all the best hippies and tree huggers they take advantage of all the things that society provides for them yet don't think the law should apple to them because they don't want it to. They don't pay taxes, use the NHS, roads and the property of others to exist and don't contribute anything.

If everyone was like gypsies society would be utterly ****** and we would go back to the dark ages as a society.

Wait...You're saying all the biggoted preconceptions and views about travellers in this thread didn't come true?

My experiences (and unfortunately its numerous) with them has always been nothing but extremely negative. Some violent, some disgusting, some sub human and always out of control.

I am sure there are some 'ok' ones out there, I have just never happened to meet any of them.

Preconceptions from my experience = grounded in reality. Others have had similar experiences.

Where there is smoke and all that.....

One thing that gypsies will almost never cause trouble with is a funeral, hell it's probably the only thing where you can extend them credit and fully expect to be paid. As a result they are usually well behaved (to an extent) and orderly when attending a funeral.

The occasion that the pub got trashed was a funeral. The occasions we have closed, there was trouble else where, were funerals. A wedding took place last year, trouble. So in my experience every gathering of these people results in trouble, yesterdays was the opposite. However I have no idea what happened last night at the pub or in surrounding pubs.

Like many on here, with one notable exception my experiences have all been terrible. Violence, theft, leaving mounds of waste. They once nicked the dog from the village pub ( found later in their camp with its collar still on as they swore blind they'd had it since pup). It's not rocket science where the attitude to them comes from.
