Yes it may sound strange to some people but I really hate Christmas day and wish I could work it and get an extra day off when places are open...

I think it great for people with kids but when your single and on your own it got be the worst day of the year by long way..

I went out into my local town in the night time hoping to find a pub open somewhere to go a beer but not a chance everywhere was closed :(

Pubs are only just kicking out round here (illegal of course!)
Move somewhere better, get more friends. Christmas doesn't have to be a 'lonely' time of year unless you let it be.

It a joke over you have to finish any alcohol drink by 2.30pm if your in a licensed premises..

SEVERAL Guernsey hotels and restaurants have expressed their frustration at liquor licensing laws that limit drinking on Christmas Day and Good Friday.

The Liquor Licensing Ordinance 2006 means that on these two days consumption of alcohol on licensed premises is strictly prohibited after 2.30pm.

I know what you mean OP. This is my first 'dry' Christmas and it's been ******* awful. All my mates are out getting drunk and having fun and I'm stuck there drinking pop and feeling like the spare dick at a whore convention. Then on Christmas Day all my family are enjoying a nice few tipples and getting merry whilst, yet again, I'm stuck on tea and pop again.
Move somewhere better

Expects someone to go through the horrendous process of upending their entire life and moving house simply because one day of the year happens to be ****. GD never fails to deliver.

My sister and her husband + 2 kids have gone to new York for Christmas (it also her 50th Birthday on Jan 1st)

I got lots beer here but am not really a person that likes drinking at home or on my own.

I usually hate all the forced social aspects and people being nice because it’s christmas but I had an excellent day this year.

Getting drunk a whole lot over this period is awful if you’re prone to depression, it’s actually a time of year a lot of alcoholism starts.

I very little drink (Only get drunk about 1 or 2 times a year normally and mainly only at work parties)

But I have suffered depression multi times in my life which I find can turn to stress when drinking to much..

Yes hate it the wife and young son left me so it's first Xmas alone few panic attacks last few days oh well back to work on Thursday.

I don't drink as makes me feel like ####

I like Christmas mostly because it's the one day of the year that the country truly mostly shuts down. What with Sunday's being an ordinary day same with all other bank/public holidays.

That a good reason..

Just wished I was in a state of mind yesterday to just relax instead of worrying about this and that..

Christmas in India sucks.

The climate is still late 20 degrees etc, everything operates as normal and no xmas telly!

You aren't missing anything. There was absolutely **** all to watch on TV yesterday. Not even any decent films!

I remember when I was a child I used to look forward to my mum picking up the Xmas edition of the Radio Times and spending hours highlighting what I was going to watch.

If it had a videoplus code(remember that?).....the better.

I'm single and on my own. I don't hate Christmas day. Yes, shops are shut but I knew that they would be so I bought anything I needed before. Not a significant problem. Nothing like enough to classify it as "the worst day of the year by long way". Not even by an extremely short way. I got the day off work, so that's enough to make it better than most days of the year.

I drank tea, played some games, read some of a book, had a nice bottle of beer (Old Crafty Hen) while reading a book. In my comfy chair in my warm house. With complete freedom to do what I wanted to do. Worst day of the year? Not even close.

TV on Christmas is depressing anyway. Went to my mums and she had all the soaps on. Everyone is depressing with the same recycled storyline.

I cant be bothered with Christmas, stopped celebrating it a few years back. So much happier as i have money to spend on myself instead of blowing it all for one day to be broke 6 weeks after.

All my immediate family live by me so i see them near enough every week. Don't need Christmas to see them.

I don't hate Christmas, but given that this one is the first that I've been single in nearly a decade, I wasn't exactly bouncing off the walls with enthusiasm. Chocolate, gin and a good movie helped though.

Its bound to be an anticlimax. After weeks of Xmas songs, adverts, recipes, articles on how to spend it, bombarded with high street 'bargains' and online too, it is all over in a few hours and you can look forward to the next retail event, valentines or Easter depending on your proclivities.

Its just another day and I really can't be bothered with the entire thing really . its a colossal waste of money that I would rather have spent on something else .
