Things you've noticed as you're getting older?

Warning - pessimism incoming! :D
  • No one ever feels "grown up". I used to think adults had it all together and magically woke up feeling in control and responsible. I am yet to experience this. I still look at 35+ people on TV as "parents" and myself still as a child.
  • Following on with #1 - The Government are just as clueless as the rest of us which is actually pretty scary.
  • We are not much different than animals bred for slaughter - we are born, weened away from our parents, forced into obedience with threat of punishment (school), only to be forced into a more demanding and stressful environment where we are worked for the majority of out lives until we are no longer able. The lucky ones are rewarded with rest in a sanctuary while the ones who became too lame are shipped off for a slow, depressing death.
  • As above, I realise very few people work because they want to - but rather because the alternative is far worse. What kind of life is this?

It is amazing how the country runs.

It is kinda weird seeing people in their 30s on tv shows, and still visualising them as way older than me (who is 35).

I remember watching One Tree Hill. The Mother of the one kid was 36, and I remember thinking she was super old. She acted old, she seemed boring etc.. Fast forward a few years and I've met a bunch of 36 year olds that basically just girls. They like sparkly stuff and unicorns, they love to party, love dressing up etc...

As Ive gotten older I have no desire to go out drinking, no desire to drink really, I only socialise with people of similar interests to mine (so not many). I am me and do not cate what others think. I'm weird and alternative and much more fun to be that than to be a sheep.

  • More ear hair, more nose hair, less head hair
  • Regular lower back pain from bad night sleeps, making 'umph' noises when I stand up from a chair
  • Can function at 99% on <3 hours sleep
  • More conversations about mortgages, funds, babies, less conversations about vomiting, club nights, girls
  • More money to buy the best, take lessons, learn skills, travel in style etc
  • More life-long friends, less acquantances
  • Able to handle far more booze than at uni

I find I’m becoming even more patient than years before.

I would say that i am more patient with people but less patient with things such as delivery of items bought and such.

I would say the former is due to experience of life making me more tolerable towards others of different viewpoints, while the latter is due to the easy access commercial life of today.

I notice how the rush to get everyone into unis isn't really paying off these days, it started when I was leaving school in the 90s. Genuinely feel sorry for those who have tens of thousands in debt only to be stuck in dead end jobs for 10+ years before getting near their desired career path. It's not necessarily down to too many degree holders, but the changing job market though. When you enter uni, that's 4 years+ before you come out the other end and a lot can change job wise in that time..

Too many people going to uni just for the sake of it to realized they will end up starting from the bottom along with others who didn't go. If they want a high paid job they still need to work dame hard even after getting their degree. Which many are not willing to do.

50 in a few months, here's a few of mine:

  • Constantly running to the loo.
  • Grumpy (apparently)
  • Takes me longer to to scroll down to my birth year.
  • You are offered a seat on the train.
  • Gym becomes much harder
  • Your buster's follow 10 yards behind you.
  • You start to see the bags under your eyes in the corner of your sight.

I'll be 39 in 2018 and life just seems to be staying as rubbish as ever, my self-confidence has ebbed away, friends have drifted off and the future still looks bleak.

Your life is what you make it, i've had the best few years of my life in the last few years, started a fresh in NZ, new friends, new job which is going very well, to the point we have been offered the opportunity to take over the business next year. I'm loving life :D

Eh the loo thing has been true for me since my mid-30s. Annoying as hell.
Too true about the scrolling, lol. Annoying as hell.
What's a "buster"?

I've always been grumpy tho, so that's not an age thing. I was born annoyed as hell.
