Can I become twitch streamer to pay for things as a business expense?

Iam sure if you were rich enough to start with you could get fancy pants accountant to do it as tax avoidance, but seeing as your a mear pleb it would be tax evasion.

Why don’t you make an interesting and entertaining Twitch channel instead? Then you can live the millionaire lifestyle and pay no VAT on your latest Sound Blaster.

the tax saving would be less than the cost of energy and electricity to every day load up minesweeper and webcam etc and have that stream for a couple hours.

you can put all this into a legit business idea. e.g. an online directory. spend a few hours adding a load of businesses, pay for the domain, hosting etc, then put adwords on it and claim the costs back of internet, electricity, rent etc.

Simply register your company in the British Virgin Islands, grow a rubbish beard and stop paying tax completely. Several years later they'll Knight you even though you're parasitic scum.

By the way, there are actually quite strict rules on twitch regarding showing off cleavage and chests etc. so clothes would be a legit business expense. Also, I have a mate who knows about accounting and he reckons you only get investigated if you are cheating the gov out of more money than the cost of the investigation. In my case I'd just be looking to cheat out up to £1000 so pretty small beer for tax inspector and vat man. I'd basically sail under the radar I reckon.

I used to think you're a prat but I am learning what a clown you actually are and it's absolutely fantastic, love it :D

Hello

Can I set up a business where I am an online twitch streamer / YouTuber in order to claim items such as my broadband, computer upgrades, and utilities as a tax deductable business expense against the loses the business will make? Idea would be to pay myself minimum wage from the business and stream a couple of hours every night of me playing minesweeper etc. No one will watch and thus no income but the premise will be I am growing my audience etc. initially. I will put some capital in to the business to continue paying my wage and can then claim utility bills, computer upgrades, clothes, food as a business expense. All things I am paying for currently but paying full tax on. As business will be making a loss I can hopefully offset some more tax as well. Maybe I can even claim a pet etc. as a mascot for my stream and therefore also a business expense?

What do you reckon? Seems pretty legit to me.

If it works can you post a thread for the Folding@Home team to see I'm sure they could benefit too.

As it's been ascertained that you might have trouble legitimately claiming any expenses in this situation the best option is to limit business related expenditure. My suggestion is to become a webcam model, clothing budget greatly reduced, though this may be offset by the increase in the marital aid budget.
