Image on a thread on the for sale forum

Hi when I get my image from photobucket and put in in the thread it shows the picture while I'm setting it up, this can be a pain when putting a few on there is there a option to put the IMG url on instead.

There is a button on the far right just above the edit box with a tooltip saying "Use BBCode editor". Click that.

Try using imgur if you can't get photobucket to work

dont use photobucket anyway, they've cracked down on linking to other sites and half the time the image doesnt load.

Why can't we upload direct to the forums like we can on avforums? Its a pain to have to use an image hosting site all the time.

I agree that it would be good to look at providing image hosting (limit the referrers if you have to) within the forums. The images can be removed when the threads time-out, but it also means that archived threads don't lose all their embedded pictures after a couple of years when the free image host goes under.

I guess the cost of storing all the images would be pretty high. 1TB of file storage on Amazon S3 is about £17/month, not to mention all the bandwidth too - a TB of outgoing data is about £66.

The amount of forums I come across with guides on how to do things where all the images are dead is far too high

It would be rather smart if archived threads could get their images automagically copied into the forum rather than hot linked so they're preserved. I'm sure someone's done that already.
