Well, I was browsing eBay for a car I've wanted for many years (as you do) and at the worst time of year I found one with just the spec I want. Damn it.
I talked myself out of it - it's the wrong time, wait until I've sold something to make room etc etc... however the festive tipple got the better of me and I ended up buying it.
Not to everyone's taste, and it's undoubtedly going to be ruinous to own - but I now own a relatively high-spec LWB Phaeton.
Undoubtedly the most boring engine of the lot, I had to get the 3.0 TDI as I cover a lot of miles and the others just weren't feasible. Also it's fairly DIY-friendly, unlike the larger engines where total engine removal is needed for most major jobs.
81,000 miles, lots of history, many toys (massaging front seats, heated and cooled front and rears, about 3,000 cup holders, 4Motion etc) and not so terrible 32MPG as an initial average.
The rear legroom is absolutely insane.
Needs a wash as I brought it home quite some distance through awful conditions!
