Loosening a stuck fill port

I'm working on my current build and I've got an EK fill port in the top of the case (this one) but the lock nut has worked itself very tight and I'm struggling to take it out.

Anybody got any tips for loosening it? Tried rubber gloves but the nut is pretty slim and hard to get a good grip on.

Kitchen roll can help

Ahh I only ever buy the ones with a coin mark in the top for this very reason, you forget and tighten them when its warm its impossible to get off cold.

Get a small balloon and stretch the blow hole over the top. It may give you that extra grip that you need.

Ruined most of my fingers and all of my forearm muscles, but managed to get it loose with rubber gloves. I packed the fingertips with kitchen roll to stop the knurling chewing through completely.

Cover with cloth and pliers would have saved some effort

I've had this problem before and like Smffy pliers and a bit of kitchen roll or rag to protect the fitting works a treat.

Try heat. Heat expands the outer nut more than everything else so warming it up with a hairdryer for a minute or two can make a lot of difference.
