I have jut bought this motherboard and replaced the old one. but when I connect everything up and power on nothing happens. I have tested the PSU using the 'paper clip test' and there is definitely power but when I try it with the motherboard I get nothing. Am I missing something?

Have you connected the extra power plug near the CPU socket?

Are you sure the front panel power button is on the right pins?

Definitely check youve got your power buttons on the right pins, i made that mistake... I had the AB350-N Gaming motherboard and didnt realise there is a colour coordinated Front panel connection and next to it is the same pin layout but not colour coordinated and i had it on that one :p

Make sure the 8 Pin 4x4 12v Power Connector top left on motherboard in right
Don't use a PCI-E GPU Power Connector for this

Make sure the 20 + 4 pin Main power connector in right on the motherboard right-hand side
Make sure you got the motherboard on the Case Tray Right with the Metal Standoffs
Otherwise, it short out & will not startup

Front panel Case Headers depending on Case: Power LED Pins + / - Power Switch Pin +/-,
HDD LEDs Pin + / - & Reset Switch if case as one - / +,

+ pin will have alittle Arrow on plastic , will show you in Motherboard Manual

I did exactly that in the beginning before realising the colours actually don't represent where they go and have changed this accordingly to suit what the manual says but still nothing is happening.

Thanks. I have checked all of these points and everything is as it should be. I have followed the diagram as per the manual but still I have no power. As mentioned before the PSU is working so I can only think I am missing something simple here. I hope :)

Power to that motherboard is the 4x4 8 pin top left & the long 20 + 4 pin that plugs into the right-hand side.

Power switch on Case or
Still could be the PSU
DOA Motherboard.
Both power cables at connected yep. I haven't got a clue how to find the issue as this is all new to me. I would be surprised if its an Dead MoBo as this is the 2nd one. The 1st one had same issue so I assumed it was faulty but now that I have the same issue here I think it is something I am missing.

What PSU do you have & how old ?
PSU even with a paper clip can still be faulty when trying to power up the PC
PSU plug in the wall or in a surge/backup? , They can make trouble
Could reset the bios & try.
PCI-E Graphics cable in , Some low end like the 1050ti Don't need a power cable
Make sure the 2 sticks of memory in right

What PSU do you have & how old ? Corsair 450s PSU
PSU even with a paper clip can still be faulty when trying to power up the PC- How do I test other faults?
PSU plug in the wall or in a surge/backup? , They can make trouble- Plugged into the wall.
Could reset the bios & try - How can I reset the BIOS without it being on. Motherboard never been used
PCI-E Graphics cable in , Some low end like the 1050ti Don't need a power cable
Make sure the 2 sticks of memory in right- Memory inserted correctly

Might be dead CPU ... If trying another fail fails .
Did you buy from OCUK?

If in fear RMA, if still under 14 days should be straight swap . They would test it on their psu , CPU and ram combo

But no power at all when pressing the power switch Would think Memory or CPU would give a Beep Error Code or LED light on board for the Faulty part.

If CPU is dead then Mobo won't power on at all. Mobo expensive versions the have LCD for code might , I cant remember if gaming 3 has 4 LEDs in either top right or bottom right then cycles through fault checking key components.

@GIGA-Man might be able to lend a hand trouble shooting
