Writing a letter. Handwritten vs Typewriter?

I have just composed a letter to a really good friend.
Not a love letter. A personal thank you.

Old fashioned I know. But I'm undecided on handwriting or using my typewriter. (i think it's cool)
My handwriting is ok. Probably bang on normal.

Are they a Hipster? If so, go with the typewriter.

If not and your handwriting is remotely legible, go with the hand-written option.

Hand written letter is better for personal things.

If you have a good handwriting skill then always go for a pen, if not then a typewriter.

I actually wrote a handwritten letter last month. My first, in as long as I can remember. It's a dying art, such a shame.

My handwriting is rubbish so I always type letters in Word 2003.
