YouTube star Logan Paul uploads a monetised video of a suicide victim to "raise awareness"

Through youtube and other sources, I should have said. That would include Facebook, Instagram and other bits.

And I'm sure you're aware that at that many views the normal linearity of youtube income goes out of the window.

In any case, last year he bought a house in California for $6.5million.

as with any earning with media unless its fact with proof take with a pinch of salt.you used to get £600 per million views.now you get even less.yes its only youtube and he obviously gets lots of money for what he does.it wont be anywhere near the amount you think he gets.or state.

so he brought that house.doesnt mean he flat out brought it or what deal he has on it to buy it.could be over 50 years for all you know.

That's still nearly £700,000 pa before sponsorship, assuming 3,000,000 views is an average day.
yes its a lot but the point was how out he was on the figures.so i pointed out what you actually earn to try and put some actual clarity onto youtube earnings.

hes put he earns 36,000 a day.that isnt happening.tot up the youtube money its close to £2000.thats his main earnings.facebook and the other media wont generate anywhere as much.then you realise its no where near the figures people spout.

YouTube alone is unlikely to be his only source of income now either.

You had FIFA YouTuber's a few years ago earning more money through coin sponsors than they were from their YouTube videos and that's before demonetisation and lower payouts hit.

£2000 a day invested wisely can create you a huge second source of income, he's a potato but I'm pretty sure he's got people around him or management that's sorted this out in case his YouTube days are numbered.

He's been flooding my Facebook for the past few days. Today I watched the video on ******** after reading comments about him being insensitive to the whole situation as well as uploading the video. Uploading it was a stupid idea regardless of the age of his fanbase. People were complaining that he was laughing about the whole situation but you can tell from the video that he is completely shocked and scared but trying to maintain his cool.

That's what I thought. The video was probably not his smartest move, but he goes from fake idiot to honest and shocked in seconds. I thought that his reaction was genuine.

I also thought that the guy who committed suicide wanted to be found. You could see his body, more or less, from the forest's car park.

It varies so much depending on the ads on your video and how people watch them. You can't say it's x amount per million views, it doesn't work like that. For example, if someone skips an ad after 5 seconds the revenue is different to that of someone that doesn't skip it.

Apparently he makes $82k - $1.3m per month or $984.6K - $15.8M per year from his YouTube channel alone according to SocialBlade.

That's usually the case with most suicides. The guy could have wanted to be found by a random person than having a family member find him.

I only watched the video once and skipped to the important bits - why was he even there anyway? Didn't someone say that you aren't supposed to be wondering the forest? Was he hoping to make a supernatural video of some sort?

I genuinely have zero idea who this bloke is, I guess I am not his demographic. I suspect if I watched his content I might end up turning in to a mass shootist.

Never heard of him before this but some of his pranks are actually quite good entertainment. Still can't get my head around how he makes so much money though when his target audience is about 12-18. I guess advertisers are banking on the next decade or so.

Now you can see that his “apology” is fake, he spent the whole time disrespecting the country, the culture and the people.

He should be locked up for anti social behaviour.

good god, the only thing i can take from that video is that the japanese apparently have a LOT of patience.

They do, and they don't like confrontation so they tolerate him to some extent. It is frown upon to even talk loudly or use your phone on public transport, and I think he knows that. I would like to see him to do the same kind of antics in the Bronx or the south side in Atlanta.

indeed, there's something worrying about people who think "its just a prank bro" or in his case "vlogging bro" is a licence to do whatever you want.

ahh well, he'll either burn out or end up going so extreme it'll finally go badly for him, just a shame he's earnt so much money so far.

I had not seen googles comment

"Our hearts go out to the family of the person featured in the video," YouTube's statement reads. "YouTube prohibits violent or gory content posted in a shocking, sensational or disrespectful manner.
"If a video is graphic, it can only remain on the site when supported by appropriate educational or documentary information and in some cases it will be age-gated.
"We partner with safety groups such as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline to provide educational resources that are incorporated in our YouTube Safety Center."

it seems ironic that Logan's teenage fans cannot appreciate the addage that "if it's free you are the product" ; the adults need to legislate against this "we don't do evil" company.
