Not really, inclusive calls are up to an hour, over that you pay.

If only there were some kind of device to keep time that you could have in a convenient location, such as on your wrist.

Use a phone that requires an external power source, find one of those timer plugs, set to come on for 1 hour - job done.
Now most of these timers are 24hr so you'll need to phone at the exact same time everyday but apart from that its a very simple and convenient solution
Alternatively, talk less.

I used to have problems with wife talking to her sister for more than the hour -kept saying - hang up and ring again - didn't work - I then went on her online banking and transferred £5 to our joint account which pays all the bills - after a few fivers had gone out she got the message.

Here's one old person who has not used a landline in years, whereas as my son has who I assume you accept will be younger than me.

Or you could say, who the hell uses a land line at all now, with
all the free minutes that you can get now on most mobile phone
plans, I have 500 minutes on my plan, and my wife has unlimited.

I just queried it with her, asking if it was definitely unlimited, or did
she have to comply with some obscure small print requirement?
She said , “No, I don’t”, and brought up her agreement on her phone
screen, it’s with 3, and says, “All you can eat texts, 4GB of data, and
all you can eat minutes, £28 per month.
I’m on Giffgaff, for £10 per month, I get 3GB of data, 500 minutes, and unlimited texts.
My brother is long distance and when he phones home it's to my mothers landline and occasionally that can last over an hour, these things still do happen albeit not as often as it use too.
