Urgh, why is it so hard to choose a case?!

I'm so picky. Got my eye on a few; like chavs adding stripes to a car, I've convinced myself I *need* tempered glass (both sides), RGB, and a PSU shroud!

Define R6 I hear you scream! It looks lovely, but I've a fractal case at work and they tick the boxes, but are just boring. I had my eye on the NZXT h700i, but it's pricey and I don't think it's much smaller than the HAF X it will replace. What else can you recommend for me please? £150 or under please, but I will stretch a little for the right case.

I want to stay ATX size, and will be using either a 280 or 360 front mounted AIO cooler for a 8700k build. Top mounted isn't a no-no, but I'd prefer front mounted due to the heat I'm expecting from an OC'd 8700k.

Cheers!

Why is a front mounted rad better than top mounted ?
It isn't always, but for open fan cards (windforce etc) it seems to be better at getting rid of case air. Generally front mount is better for cpu as it pulls in fresh, cool air. Downside is the dumped, warm air is what then is responsible for cooling everything else.

I'll be going front mount most likely, as I want as much cool air as possible to cool the 8700k which I hope to OC the **** out of.

So much choice, nothing jumping out as a must buy. The h700i is sort of my benchmark, but it's smart features and dumb pricing stops me from getting it.

I really like the s340 elite, but the air restrictions would be a big problem for an 8700k and 980ti. Has anyone modified this case to add air vents to the front and/or side to allow more airflow to front fans?

Because every case out there gets at least one thing completely wrong.

There are quite a few out there that I'd like to replace my Corsair 450D with but they've all got terrible air flow and cases that do get the air flow correct have terrible aesthetics or lousy cable routing or poor clearances for GPU/CPU coolers etc, etc.

So I just end up sticking with my 450D :)

Went for the NZXT S340 Elite Black in the end. Hopefully have NZXT sending me a spare front panel so that I can mod it for better airflow on a laser cutter at work :)

went the way of the pc table a few years back and have never looked back.

i see nice cases pop up, i smile and move along.

lack of room and cramming stuff in are a thing of the past, cooling it sort of handles on it own lol.

expensive, yes, i have no doubt over the lifespan i have it i would have spent more on cases as
i loved to have new ones.

the fact you are getting a solid table as well as a case is a big plus, it does not give or move a mm.
